Winter is coming!

« on: March 09, 2008, 07:55:29 PM »

Does anyone know when the 9800's are due release ?

I see the 9600gt is selling but at roughly the same prices as a better performing 8800gt what's the point ?

I may just see the bank of Smattie when the 9800 is released for an upgrade.

No idea myself but the fecking specs on it look like its going to make the 8800Ultra look like a mid range card. A minimum of 1GB of frame buffer and two 8800Ultra cores @ 65nm's. Holy shite!

Hmm, the 9800GX2 is only 12% faster than a 3870X2 though, apparently and about 30% more expensive.

Im not sure what the deal is, and whether we will even see a 9800 Ultra/GT/GTS etc... and if its cheaper and faster than GX2, why have they bothered with the GX2.

The 10 series are alledgedly a bit of a reboot for nVidia, going back to the heavy multicoring stuff, like ATi are paying the price for (and nVidia took a hit for with the FX...but claimed back a bit with the 6800)

Hopefully it won't be fucked, like the FX.
