I have a job that has to be finished today and there is slight possibility it'll get done on time. They told the customer it would take a week, but I hit some major snags in the job I didn't count one. Things like having to cut out the floor of the motorhome(motorized caravan) and weld in braces. The problem was floor squeaks and it's turned onto a nightmare to fix it, that and a laundry list of other sh*t that needs to be fixed. I'm feeling the stress right about now. Here's a few pics, poor quality as my camera is getting old.

I've got all the squeaks fixed and the floor back together, now I have to relay the linoleum and carpet by 5:00 today. flee
I'll post pics of it done so you get a better idea of what it looks like.

Yes, I have a standard. One that gets the customer to pay his bill. Wink It has turned into a fecking nightmare. I didn't finish today and the customer needs by tomorrow at noon. I've got another full day in trimming it out left. I'll post pics of the done job. Why the customer would put any money into the damn thing is beyond me. laugh Granted, it's less than a year old, but a sow in a silk dress is still a sow. laugh It's a 38' motorhome that sells for @ about a 100,000USD. It's not the price that kills the coach, it's the way it's built. There are much better coaches for that price.

Keasy, I'm younger than you. Remember?!!! Oh yeah, you were somewhat less than sober during that conversation. Wink

Plywood would be the worst thing to replace it with. OSB or MDF is structurally much stronger and less expensive. Concrete board is OK, but it's much heavier. So, nope, MDF went back in. It's not the wood that 's an issue, it was the structural metal frame that was causing the problem; which was floor squeaks.

Oh by the way, a hundred thousand doesn't buy much of a new motorhome these days. That's bottom of the pile in the new gas models and won't buy you much unless it's a POS such as the one I'm working on. Wink

I was kind of wondering about the quality myself when I saw the amount of pop rivets they appear to have used on the frame.. scratchhead

That's not pop rivet holes. Those are screw holes. When the factory welded the frame together they left slag on top and the screwed the vent flashing down in each corner, then they glued the wood floor down on top of that. The holes you see are where the factory(and a few from me 'til I figured out what was wrong) attempted to screw the floor down to stop the squeak. The vertical piece you see is the main floor frame runner from front to back. The horizontal piece is actually part of a square box welded off the main frame that supports the vent area in front of the sink. The welder was high on something or didn't know what he was doing, because he burned through in parts of his weld and just plain shit welded the rest, so the box was weak and squeaking. I welded in a stiffener brace. The first horizontal piece and weld is theirs, the second is mine. I've put new lino in and now I just have a few trim outs left.

Completed and I forgot to post pics. All I have is my lousy cell phone pics and no time to doctor them. Feck it. You get the idea.
This one is the after of the cut out floor.

This one is the living room done. The pics really don't do it justice.
