Winter is coming!

« on: June 13, 2008, 04:47:39 PM »

So I decided to get a hold of COD 4 for the online element of playing with all my mates online.
Thought to myself, hmmmm buy it from Steam as it's a lot less hassle than driving down to the shops. Costs a bit more $69.99, around six pounds more in real money, but no messy CD Keys and  no disc to lose so I could always download it again from Steam if I wipe it. So thats £36.00 in GBP.
So I get a hold of Smatties card, do the business and get to the final payment and WHALLOP!!!...
the price  increases  to $89.99 US , £46.16 in real money because of tax!!!
F*ck off Steam no way.
So I nipped out down to the shops and bought the PC DVD ROM for £30.00 including tax ($58.49 in funny money).
To think it costs them less to use steam as a digital distribution platform than to physically press discs and print a manual then transport the product to the retail outlets.
F*ckers.

Anyway, I now have COD 4 on PC as well as 360.

It annoys me that they actually list it in Dollars anyway. We are in the UK it should therefore display GBP

In the US they only have to pay $49.99 we have to pay $69.99. Steam is the best content delivery system to date but these prices just suck.

In this case it's more beneficial to get it from Game or Play.com

I bought mine on Steam for the reasons keasy listed. Yes I paid a lot more and had to wait a whole 12 hours extra for the new patch to become availiable but hey I have it on Steam....hmmm methinks 'MUG' fits the bill nicely Wink :P

I just got some classic n00b ownage by Ctulu and his clan.  laugh

In saying that I did manage to get some nice ranged shots in.

Good game, enjoying it more online on PC than Xbox.

i nearly bought it off steam, then realised i could buy it in the shops for less

sent an email to activision calling them a bunch of money grabbing cunts basically, specially since it also costs only $49.99 if you live stateside but not the case if you are in europe $69.99

so, not only do we pay american tax we get fucked by a near 50% price increase too.

oddly, activision never responded.

in the end i never bought it.

you just came online at the wrong time or perhaps better said on the wrong map  laugh Killhouse truely is a well chosen name  happy. On bloc you did much much better!  Give it time, get some levels under your belt to access the perks/weapons and soon you'll be singing like a merry Scotsman owning my ass like one of his finest sheep stock.

But I shure was glad you dropped by  smile
