As some of you know, I have been having issues with my Nvidia xfx 7600GT graphics card, it kept crashing to desk top and changing my display settings, giving me the message , nv4_display driver has stopped working... I did everything to try and fix it, reinstall, update driver, hours scouring the net for a fix, I went to tech support at Nvidia and liased with them, they told the card was most likely foooooked and as a 'high end' card had a 3yr warranty.. etc etc.... I called Beta Electronics the mob I purchased the card from, they said they only give a 12mth warranty...and gave me the distributors number MMT, they informed me the Beta was very naughty for telling me to ring them, I said I dont give a fook anymore I just want the prob fixed, I also reminded them of a program I watched on 'A Current Affair' a few days ago about consumer rights and who is responsible for replacing stuffed goods,,,,, He says give me your number he call me back in a few minutes after he calls Beta, a few minutes later, Beta rings and says bring the card back tomorrow and we will send it off....I state I dont want my card gone for 6 weeks, as my family use the pc...he says it'll be sorted in a week....A few minutes later MMT call back to see if Beta called... I'm dropping the card off at Beta this arvo...We'll see how long it takes...

Nvidia is the the only one that hasn't given me the shits. Even ATI's all-in-wonder shit its self on me in a short time(three ATI cards in the dumpster while my four year old 6600GT still kicks). I cried myself to sleep when AMD bought ATI. Now it seems AMD is fooked. Anyways, good luck AF. I hope you get it fixed soon.

I've had two Nvidia cards pack in on me (blown RAMDAC and a blown capacitor), but no faulty ATI cards.
Even over in the Tech Support forum of PCFF, the majority of faulty cards are Nvidia and I'm hard pushed to think of the last time someone reported a faulty ATI card. This might have something to do with the market share, but it's still rare. (I even bought ATI for this build after reports about scores of Nvidia cards being found DOA (first release of 8800's iirc) and I needed reliability)

so far (crosses fingers) i've not had a single nvidia product break on me (nForce, nForce2, nForce3, nForce 6, Ti4200, 6800 GT, and my 8800GTS. That Ti4200 still works despite being left all over the place... love that card, can't bring myself to chuck it)
tbh, the cap is no fault of nvidias tis the fabrication partners using cheap-o chinese caps (they have a long standing record of being shite). I'm pretty certain nearly everything i've bought in my PC is using Japanese caps.

(nForce, nForce2, nForce3,(5950Ultra) nForce 6, Ti4200, 6800 GT(6600GT), and my 8800GTS(GT). That Ti4200 still works despite being left all over the place... Damn near had the same line up Corroded. I too liked the Geforce 4 ti's-I had a 4600 that went mysteriously missing when I pulled it out,

ti4200 was a legendary, legendary card.
6800gt was similarly legendary (i remember getting that 2 days before HL2 came out, and lots of ATi fans insisted their cards still were faster... they failed)
8800 series cards are pretty legendary too (though the gt gets the ti4200 award for awesome currently)

I ha d a sparkle ti 4200 I loved it, loved, loved. still my all time fave card, it was the card that launched a love affair with Desert Combat Only ever bought nVidia myself. Even bought an awful 5900, then was redeemed with the awesomness of my 6800Gt, I loved that card and gave it to wooster after I upped to the 7900Gt.

I generally buy alternating generations... since my nForce1 had a GF2 onboard it's gone up 2 each time, till 8.
I don't strictly count the '9 series' as nines, they are barely altered 8s... end of they should be 8900gt/8900GX2 etc.
So what we have now is the real 9 series, the GT2x0 etc...

I took it back yesterday and they refunded my money straight away......cool.... My current rig is AGP, so I bought XFX GeForce 7950 GT / 512MB GDDR3 / AGP 8x / DL Dual DVI / HDTV / Video Card. Put it in last night and went pirating with Vasco....Ran excellent... Are there any probs I should be aware of?
