And South Africa are sayin nought. I reckon that's because the new SA government came to power on the back of some illicit funds from Mugabe. He knows how to buy people off when he has to.
If South Africa condemned this he wouldn't last long but as long as the current regime in power is SA owes Mugabe they will say nothing.

I saw a clip of Zimbabwean life on telly the other day.
I maybe shouldn't have laughed but I couldn't help admire the guys humor, it was a Zimbabwean standing in protest with a placard saying "Worlds hungriest millionaire". Guy sure cracked a good one. Probably had about a squillion worthless quid to his name.

Actually, i'd laugh at that too... not obviously due to the guys situation, but it stuck in your head, and the message has been passed on to others... and thats the best thing a banner can do.

Mugabe says he's 'upbeat and optimistic' about the 2nd round of elections. Given he's the only one in the running after the MDC pulled out to protect their members and supporters from continued bloodshed, it's a foregone conclusion that he'll be re-elected. He's obviously mental..let's hope not as mental as Idi Amin though. (In saying that, he wiped out about 13,000 of his own people some years ago when they decided to vote against him, so I doubt his sentiments are shared by many in Zimbabwe.)

Didn't America and Britain go to war against a dictator in Iraq? Or am I thinking of someone else? Nope It was a main reason why we did (that and oil) Why don't we stop the modern day hitler? Cause there is nothing in it for us.

We went to war looking for a smoking gun if I recall correctly Hitler was our own doorstep and we took long enough to act on him. African countries aren't really an immediate threat to us, but countries with oil that we need to have a control in are, IIRC you were complaining about the price of fuel just half an hour ago in another thread

True that..
Such is the harsh realities of the global economy.
Ironic though that we (probably) went to war over oil resources (Iraq having a pile of the stuff) and yet the price has still rocketed.
(If I was a cynical man I'd say that either the Arabs are having their revenge, or that now that a huge supply has been secured, a select few are drip feeding/holding back the additional supply...or a mixture of both)
