I like my own. Cool

I've permanently dislocated two of my vertebra as a result, but I think it was worth it.

I just love cheeses smile

Real Parmesan Reggiano is just hugg-yourself gear http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parmigiano_Reggiano
(but love the blues, both Gorgonzola and Stiltons as well)

Have you tried maggot cheese
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casu_marzu
it's not toooo bad, a little hard to get down with the buggers crawling down your throat smile

I'm into old fashioned cheese, cheddar, extra mature.

Cathedral City, recently discovered cheapo Aldi 'Bishops Land' cheese, an obvious rip off of Cathedral city, but it's half the price and utterly delicious.
cheese dreams FTW!

Mexican cheese as well, they call it Mexican but it's just cheddar with chillies through it, nice though.

Oh and cheese on toast with Marmite.

All that cheddar you see in the likes of Tesco's deli counter is just cuts from big blocks of Cathedral City and similar products.. Wink (probably priced higher too)

The best all round cheese I've come across is the stuff that J & R Good sell. *edit* (local..at the foot of Wishaw and 'selected'  tongue2 corner shops. (their bacon is good too))
I've noticed that a lot of the standard cheddary stuff just turns into a pool of grease when you grill it, which leads me to suspect it's mostly yellowish, cheese flavoured fat. tongue2

Also like Edam and Leerdammer on sandwiches.. Cool

That J&R bacon is loaded with salt, it's pure ming.

Edit, Edit....

Selected = All the local corner shops (most probably owned by an ethnic)

Don't get conned into thinking the stuff from the deli counter is necessarily any better than the stuff on the shelves is what I'm saying.
At the deli counter it might just be marked up as 'cheddar', but you can get exactly the same product for 3/4 of the price off the dairy shelf.

It's usually labelled mate.
Well in my experience.

It's got a wee tag thing telling you what make it is.

----edit.

Tell ya what is a con in Tesco btw.

the fresh fish counter.

Well it ain't, it's just a fish counter designed to con you into thinking it's fresh.

My mum and dad bought some fish from it and were told not to freeze it, well you know the answer my dad recieved when he asked why.

He gave it straight back, I can see why. Pay fresh prices for something that's been frozen designed to look fresh ?
No chance, as well heading up to gutteridge.

I'm in and out of their freezers all the time and they don't stock fish in there, it must be frozen for transit then put on display.

Not that it makes much difference, it's still been frozen at some point. confused

You have to be fairly close to the coastline to get fresh fish, don't you? My favorite cheese are (traditional)cheddar and jalapeno Swiss. I like fresh Parmesan as well, at least as fresh as we can get it. I think the nearest place tat makes it is 60 miles away.

Always thought it wasn't fresh, there's no stinky fish smell. Fresh fish reeks.
