It's always a last resort in my book me old China.
To put it commercially...
Virus removal - £70 for visit, £40 per hour there after. Should be done in an hour or two equating to £150.
System back up, re-installation of OS, software and replacement of backed up files...£700 flat if under 4 hours. After four hours, £70 per hour there after.

I would prefer it was sorted without the loss of anything, at all.
But I do agree, that a format is a good thing now and then, a fresh start on a clean slate.
And, if all else fails, then go for it.
You just quoted Cent's Sunday afternoon, with out the cost me up the arse help I don't need if I apply myself help.
