'An how faust kin it ging?'

http://www.dynamicrange.de/

They do have a point, people are downloading music that's so compressed it bears no relation to the original sound at all...it's just a wall of noise.

I signed up myself, then I noticed their strap line: "pleasurize" music

I couldn't help it..I had to PM them saying "pleasurize" sounded like the type of thing you'd hear from a Japanese fetishist wearing a full-body latex suit and holding a foot pump.

I expect my membership to be extremely short lived. Wink

Down loaded music is shit, compressed.

Try putting it through a decent system with speakers that do 104dB and you'll find out.

My ears don't hear a range as dynamic as that.

MP3 does me.

I'm as far removed from an audiophile as can be.  I grow up on an aural diet of scratched records played on cheap Taiwanese stereos and 10th generation tape recordings.

For me compressed music is 20 times the quality  laugh

Although I must say many a modern track seems to lack that something, maybe that's what it is as they engineer every sound out bar that what they want you to hear it's beginning to sound unnatural and soulless as if it's spirit has been ripped out.
For that I will lend my name to it's cause.

Maybe it's all that strange techno I'm getting into these days that's affecting my ear  laugh

Check out the demo video.

I listen to most of my music in the car, and there's some albums that are just a waste of space.
If you turn the volume up to compensate for the road noise the sound just floods with compression, turn it down to reduce the shitty sound of the compression and it sounds too flat. confused

I'm going to sign up, didn't last night because I was too tired. I've lost interest in most modern production pop. Most compressed music is not for my ears and sounds like shit, mostly the muddied bass kills me. I've tried about every format of compressed music and thinl maybe flac has the bet shot. OGG Vobis would be next.

The guy emailed me back about my concerns over the word pleasurize.. blush

I said it was probably just me, but I thought it just didn't sound right (I don't think it's even a real word) for what is getting to be a serious problem.

(I think I probably notice it a bit more because I have to compensate for one duff eardrum (I grabbed a pile of AC/DC tracks recently and they're unusable...if I turn it up it sounds like someone is cracking bubble wrap in my right ear, and if I turn it down again it's like listening to it playing in the next room))

He just asked if other people might think it was a bit strange. (I have no idea...probably just drunken Scotsmen taking the piss  tongue2)

I also asked him to look into his user registration security (it was a simple maths test i.e. what is 6+1) which was a bit weak and open to abuse.
He contacted his admins and beefed it up a bit.

The only way to hear all the music that is being played,is to go to a live gig with a good set up.

The next best thing is a decent hi- fi and that will cost you a minimum £1500.00 new or if you know your stuff and do a bit of hunting you could get a good cd based system for about £500.00 second hand.
