Scotland although a part of The UK has it's own law.

The SNP, the elected party of the Scottish Parliament is out to make a big impression and is promising all sorts of shit. One of which is to introduce a new law.

This law is to make it an offence for a man to have sex with a woman who is stupefied under the influence of alcohol to the extent it shall be classified as non consenting sex and hence rape.


Ugly men around the country are in mourning.

Seriously though,
what about if the man is drunk too ? The woman wakes up the next morning feeling remorseful, calls it rape and the bloke hasn't got a leg to stand on.
It is also I think detracting from the responsibility the woman has to take care of herself, go ahead get so drunk you have sex and expect the man to get the wrap for it.
I can see why spiking a drink to rape a woman is sickening and as a gentleman why deliberately trying to get a woman drunk to have your way with her is sad.
But the woman has the power, the option, the choice to get into a state with drink, she does not if her drink is spiked.

I can see where this law is coming from and admire it's attempt to go good, but it is ultimately flawed IMO and sends out the wrong message.

There might be some conflicts there, since under Scottish law being drunk is seen as 'voluntary intoxication' and can't be used as an excuse for your actions.
This works both ways though.

Maybe it's to cover (as you said) or act as a deterrent for the increased use of date rape drugs right enough, that shit'd knock out a bull.

This happenned about 18 years ago..A friend of mine was given 8 years..He met a girl at a pub while we were on a club run, they were both partying together, about 60 of us, plus joe citizen saw them drinking, dancing, kissing each other, partying together..She takes my mate back to her place, the next morning, he comes back and we all hit the road again. Unbeknown to him or us for that matter, she was still asleep when her husband came home from where ever, he obviously can tell there's been 'hanky panky', and to save herself she calls rape, there were a lot of witnessess, some of us, some women who also seen them kissing and cuddling, and even including the publican of the hotel who new she was no princess..But when it went to court it didnt matter jack shit...
He was given 8 on the top, with 5 on the bottom for good behaviour, we find out later that her husband was a local cop...And I now know the truth, he simply wanted to save his own honour, instead of facing the fact his girl was a floozy and was getting chopped up by half the town while he was working, but ever dog has its day.

Ctulu, they dont care about you or me mate, sure alot do good for joe citizen, but when they start creating elite special branches, then the pricks develop..on our national run about 5 years ago, we were followed for nearly 400km, then they blocked the highway in the pissing down rain, and held us there for about 2 hours,there was a lot of us there, and there still would have been 2 cops for each one of us, during this bullshit (operation Avatar it was called) when one of them was taking pictures of me and my bike, he noticed my property name on my license, and he starts wanting to have a friendly convo about him buying some land for his wife and kids, this was the last straw for me,I looked at him and told him to "Get fucked, dont talk to me, I'm not your friend, in fact you would have no trouble taking me away from my wife and kids and locking me up for 15 years, so FUCK RIGHT OFF you cocksucker ". That was the end of our friendship, thought I saw a tear in his eye..lol..After 2 hours in the rain, no one was arrested, one member, Mongo got a ticket for having no approved sticker on his helmet, now that whole "operation Avatar" would have cost hundreds of thousands of $$$$, for a friggin $90 ticket....
The new laws he in Oz now state under the R.I.C.O act (same as in the USA), that all members of 1% outlaw motorcycle clubs are considered part of organised crime, and they no longer need a search warrant to come into my home, and it's going to get worse. They can also prevent me from leaving the country just on 'hear say'... What makes me laugh is their stereotypical view of members of clubs. I have 2 trades and a degree in animal husbandry, my wife and daughter own a registered Arabian horse stud, the only thing I'm guilty of is being a bad shot with my morning piss. You have to look at it all in a reallistic view, eg...A council gets 5 million a year to do things, if they dont spend all that money they will get less next year, so they need to spend it all and get into debt so they can get a lot more,,,,it's the same for the police, they need to justify the money, and need to justify wanting extra the following year, obviously this is a much summarised explantion, but you get my drift..

I see what you are getting at Keasy,and to a certain extent I suppose you are right,but lets face it a woman doesnt have to be drunk to cry rape,whether real or not( n I hate the women who lie,it makes the real victoms not believed)
To be honest in this country there are far too many rapists who get away with it due to flimsy evidence or the womans background not being so good,even though supposedly the background has nothing to do with it,I suggest we take the American version of the law and apply it to our own,the one where Rapists get 25 years in jail,not 8 and  do 4 with good behaviour.
If it seems like I am talking from personal experience then thats cos I am.
