'An how faust kin it ging?'

« on: April 14, 2009, 06:37:15 PM »

I just run across a rather strange one that some might enjoy if they into walks in the country.

I hadn't heard of it before, but it's Geocaching.

As far as I understand it, the basic deal is that you look for Geocaches in your area, visit it and sign the log book in the Tupperware box.
But there's others, some are puzzles that lead to other Geocaches, some have a task involved..

Anyhoo, all the various types are here..

I dunno, maybe it's the type of thing that might give you something to do with the kids of a Sunday.
(I found out that the Barons Haugh estate in Motherwell was set up in about 870 and I was only on the site for five minutes.. tongue2)

I must say this makes a walk sound a lot more fun.

Reading the a guy who worked in Law hospitals cache clue and I'm intrigued, thinking of heading up there to find it and leave a picture of a hairy dick in the box.

(I jest)

Did you see the Project A.P.E. caches?
Quote
Project A.P.E. Cache

In 2001, twelve geocaches were placed in conjunction with 20th Century Fox to support the movie Planet of the Apes. Each cache represented a fictional story in which scientists revealed an Alternative Primate Evolution. These caches were made using specially marked ammo containers. Each cache had an original prop from the movie. Only a few Project A.P.E. caches exist today.

It seems that there is still one or two around. smile
