This is totally outrageous. Legal precedent for trial without jury.

I don't think it is.

There's too much risk to the jurors in that particular case.

In respects, yes... surely they could have some form of anonymous jury or something. i don't know...  jury in an alternate location, whatever really.

It gives a precedent to do other trials like it, which is the worrying point.

I'm not sure what the procedure is, but there's also a chance that the trial would collapse if the jury were put under duress by those on trial.

If that happened, could they be tried again?

I agree with it.

The defendants have already intimidated a previous jury, they choose to do that so feck em, they loose their right to a trial jury.
Sucks to be them, hope the judge throws everything he can at them.

Quote
Lord Judge told the court the cost of the measures needed to protect jurors from potential influence, such as the services of police officers, was too high and that such measures may not properly insulate them.

You trust politicians with your money, how much to buy only 1 judge ?   laugh They can't even afford to protect the jury.

If the result was not seen to be fair by the people, would the people of this country feel that justice had been served ? This sort of behavior could see no confidence in the justice sytem.

The criminals have now put fear into the justice system, because they have more money and resourses laugh
This should never be allowed.  mad
