Is it possible for numerous cockroaches to cause damage to a PC. I've googled this but can't find anything to confirm, apart from the fact that they eat almost anything and can survive a nuclear fallout.
Reason being, a client brought in a 2 yr old PC, mobo and cpu dead. PSU OK.
Machine infested with roaches. Not pleasant.
I rebuilt him another with his useable parts and now this has been returned with booting problems. I soak tested the mobo for several days before fitting it.
Again, this PC is also infested, but more so.
I'm wondering if there is a link.

They could be shorting all sorts of stuff out as they climb over the mobo.

That's the problem with roaches, they never wipe their mucky feet before they come in. smile

My thoughts too Woosty.
Found a few dead ones inside and I'm beginning to suspect that they can short out mobo components.
Now the delicate task of telling the customer, in Spanish to fumigate his house.
This is making my skin crawl..............

Wooster, your Italian is excellent!
Roach man gets his PC back later today and what I'd really like to say is: 'SeƱor, parece que su casa esta sucia de mierda. Fijate que no traigue esta maquina de nuevo, salvo que me page la gita. Andate che.' or something like that.
.......................interesting note: In Spain the verb coger means to take, over here it means to f**k and in Spain una concha is a sea shell, but over here its is a c**t.
You can imagine the hilarity which ensues from the innocent visitor.

Taking a stab at that (no babelfish, honest)

It looks like something along the lines of: "Look Mr, your house is a shithole and your PC is fucked! Buy a new one, and save me the hassle of having to fix this piece of crap again! OK?"

Am I in the ballpark here? scratchhead happy

I think you got the gist of it Wooster.

Splinter is "Andate che"  a more impolite way of saying "Andate de aqui"

Yeah, you got it Wooster.
'Andate che' is a bit rude actually, but like everything it depends on the tone.
One of my favourites is 'Che, boludo!'....hey big balls.
They call everyone boludo here, so much so that I first that everybody's last name was boludo.
And you know where Che comes from...................

That's how they got the name, it was literally bug removal (or so they claim).  smile

There used to be an old valve driven machine that they'd leave running all night, crunching numbers, and in the morning they'd have to remove all the fried moths and stuff that had been attracted to the glowing valves.

*I saw her interviewed on TV a while back, talking about it*

It was a relay calculating machine and the moth is on display at the Smithsonian.

 Cool
