11 was passable but not a patch the original, 12 sort of fell apart a bit and I don't really have any interest in 13 as a result. Wink

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

A pretty good movie I have to say, the only thing that got in the way at all was Jessica Alba's lips, at times they look like tumours (they must have just been shot full of Cod Oil during those scenes).
The other two supporting actresses weren't much better tbh..

Anyhoo, apart from the lips 7/10.  Cool

I loved Oceans 11, it's a top film imo. I've not seen the original, but i've heard from a few people it's tosh. Woosty is about the only person i've ever seen admitting to liking it. /10

I thought Oceans 12 was a big pile of balls. They didn't know what to do with it, barring a few jokes. Got over technical, over complex and after watching it once saw it as being over clever for a pretty mediocre plot so they hid the details to make it seem cleverer. 4/10

Put me off Oceans 13. Never bothered.

Transformers was awesome; being a kid of the 80's and all, i couldn't have really asked for much more, except not making Prime a snub nose and bring on Soundwave.... Loved the Desert Combat like vehicles though... AC130s, A10s.... not many action films use those really. 8/10

The Bourne Ultimatum was excellent. Whilst i don't like the hype that was surrounding it by the film makers/damon mocking Bond, i do really like the series and Bond learnt a lesson from the Bourne films, that was apparent in the opening sequence of Casino Royale. A finale to a series that didn't suck. Consistently good the whole way through, unlike the matrix which had a slide downwards... and the newest star wars which got progressively better (why is the shit film never the middle one?). I did think that Supremacy and Identity were essentially the same film though... 9/10

The Last Kiss... wasn't really quite sure what to expect from that one. Interesting/moving and i guess heart warming at the end of the day. One for when a girly is about though really, unless your feeling a bit soppy. If you like the Garden State/Lost in Translation/Eternal Sunshine type you'll like it. 8/10

Shooter. Pretty solid action movie really. decent set pieces works its way along. never heard of it till DVD, which was a shame. standard plot. 7/10.

Man on Fire. kick arse. straight 9/10 for hitting basically all the buttons.

Pirates III. Why the fuck did i sit through a plotty mess that's trying to be the first film, but trying too hard and making exactly the same failings Oceans 12 did... and why did i do it twice with Pirates? The best bit was Chow Yung Fat, and he wasn't in it that long. Next best bit was the bloody credits. It seems like Mission Impossible were everyone is Ethan Hunt, and you're never actually sure who is who. If used sparingly the face mask/changing side thing is clever... side swapping in Pirates is so rampant that eventually the Pirates become the East India Trading Company, thus giving the illusion all pirates disappeared.... 3/10.

Blades of Glory. Decent laughs, not a huge amount of them. One of Ferrell weakest, but still a solid 7/10

Serenity. I watched this before i saw Firefly. Then watched Firefly, and Serenity again. Very good. Shame it was cancelled to be honest, had alot of potential. One of my favourite Sci-fis ever in fact, gets a 9/10

Old Boy. Fucked up, but fucking brilliant. 9/10

Ghost Rider. My mates knew the comics. I didn't. Was passable action, but Mendes was totally miscast. 7/10

300. Tonight we dine in Hell. Legendary, imo. Not the deepest, but one of the best action films released in recent years. 9/10

Wild Hogs. Predictable but had funny moments (bit at the end credits was quality too). 7/10

Hot Fuzz. Two films for the price of one, imo. Both cracking. Pissed myself laughing, "don't go being a twat now!". I'm a huge Simon Pegg fan though, without being pushed Spaced would be there was my favourite TV Series..without hesitation. 9/10

Die Hard 4. A 4th film that didn't suck. Was as deep as a puddle, but it's Die Hard, so who give a damn thats what you paid admission for, to see McClane kick someones arse. 8/10

Rush Hour 3. It's Rush Hour. The best bits are pretty much in the trailer though. 7/10

HEHE nice reviews CM. Did you do that all in one breath  biggrin

Totally agree with you on oceans I thought 11 was ok, 12 was like WTF and skipped 13 because of 12. I have a hard time watching these type of movies because of the sting. So many movies try to do what was totally pulled off in the sting but fall miserably short - oceans and the the biggest loser of them all the grifters.

I take action movies with a grain of salt and just have fun with them - all the running, jumping, car crashes and fights would kill ya or leave you saying fuck it  biggrin

http://www.shootemupmovie.com/    I think this one will be fun

Fight Club 10/10

The Rundown 10/10

The first time we saw Fight Club I think we were about to go out and ended up clicking on the TV to see what was on, it was already in progress and we ended up watching the whole thing.  After seeing it another time and knowing the end it was even better.

The Rundown with The Rock, Sean William Scott and Christopher Walken was the best!  I hate monkeys, get a way monkey.   flee  LOL!  I must have seen it a 1/2 dozen times and it's still great!

I watched Sunshine last night. What a waste of celluloid.  dry

QFT

I tried to grind my way through this movie twice, got bored shitless both times, and haven't gotten any further than halfway through it.

I didn't really connect with any of the actors and really couldn't have given a shit what happened to any of them, there's a massive hole in the plot surrounding how the onboard computer reacts to actions that might jeopardise the ship/mission and 'accidents' occur with almost clockwork precision to keep the storyline trundling along.

2/10  Wink

Next: Nicholas Cage

Good movie, interesting story..twisty.. Cool

8/10

Aye, the plot is a bit of a blunt instrument at the beginning but it's still worth it...  tongue2

Surf's Up: Animation

I though this would be a bit 'Meh', but it's really quite good (I lolled a fair bit.. happy) and the animation is the best I've seen yet in this type of movie. 7.5/10

Greg and I went and saw WAR with Jet Li and Jason Statham yesterday.  Decent show with some good shots in it.  Direction could use a little polish, but I'd reccomend this one for the theater.

Saw Grindhouse:Bulletproof the other day. Better than expected, good to see Kurt Russell in a film again always liked him.
Also saw that new Halloween, not a bad film not really any surprises though. Had boobs which is always a bonus.

Seen Premonition last night....not bad but some of her flashbacks were a little disturbing/creepy but overall not a bad movie. I need to watch it again to find out how/why the premonitions started.
