This was just on the news.

Look at what they did to her with photoshop, it's practically obscene.
She looks stunning just the way she is, but they still saw fit to reduce her image to a vomit inducing skeleton. confused

That really pisses me off!! How many young, impressionable kids are going to look at the likes of that pic and feel totally   inadequate. The girl is a size 4 anyway which is well smaller than the average woman on the street and they still feel the need to tamper with her picture as she is too large!!  Cindy Crawford, Elle MacPherson, Claudia Schiffer were all healthier looking models.  The likes of Victoria Beckham make me sick too.  You look at pics of her back in the early Spice Girls days and she was carrying a bit of weight although by no means fat.  You see pics of the size zero VB now with her collar bones jutting out and proclaiming that she eats normally and healthily. Bullshit - not unless a lettuce leaf a day constitutes a full meal on her home planet!  They should show more responsibility as they are being looked up to by young kids who would love to be like them when they grow up.  Not that I am saying it's all down to women actresses and models, I'm sure the same crap goes on to some extent with the men too.  Iknow early teen girls who are totally pre-occupied with their weight because of what they see in mags and hear on tv and they wonder why anorexia and bulemia are so common!!

As for airbrushing pics etc.  You would probably walk past most of your well known actors and actresses in the street as they bare little resemblance to the person you see on tv and magazines.  I remember seeing pics of a lot of the famous actresses with and without make up and airbrushing etc and the only one who you could pick out and say bore any resemblance to the real person was Halle Berry, she was stunning before and after make up and tbh there wasn't a lot that they could do to improve with airbrushing.  The same batch of pics showed Beyonce at a photoshoot showing a slight stomach - the printed mag article it has been airbrushed out.  On the cover of one of Bon Jovi's singles Jon has been airbrushed to death - its not him, it didn't suit him, I hate the pic.  I'd rather see someone totally natural than airbrushed to death.

While they are at it in that case they can do my hips and ass Wink.

Seriously though, Witchysue loves you as you are and thats all that matters.  Altering pics - it ain't real.  I'd rather see a pic of someone how they really are.  When I was on holiday with my pal and our kids last year she was totally paranoid about getting her pic taken as she had put on weight.  That is how she was, thats who god forbid if anything happened to her at that moment in time is who the kids would remember and I know I would rather that Becca have pics of me the way I am, flaws and all than have nothing to remember me by.  A big regret re my mum is we don't have a lot of pics of her as she was always encouraging us to take pics of my gran and papa as you would expect with them being elderly that they would pass away first.  My papa will be 94 on his birthday and my mum died at 57.  I do make sure I go snap happy with the camera when I am around friends and family as you never know whats around the corner.  We are what we are, no-one is perfect but if you aren't happy on the inside with yourself then no amount of airbrushing and plastic surgery is going to change that I'm sorry to say.  A short term fix for a deeper rooted problem imho.

I agree.  When I started going bald friends asked me if I was going to try any of the treatments or get a transplant.  My looks have never worried me, I am who I am and thats that.

Men are sexy without hair though Cool.  When I had cancer losing some of my hair was the worst part of the whole experience for me.  I used a cool cap when having chemo to try and save it and I only lost it on top and the rest of it thinned out but I loathed it.  If I had to go through the op etc again, I would say ok it has to be done but the thought of the hair loss makes me shudder.  My hairdresser goes daft at me because I won't stop growing it.  Told her I was long enough trying to grow it back, there is no way its getting cut short!!

Has the structure of you hair changed after the op?   Grow it as long as you want girl, as long as you cant sit on it cause that would be taking the dental flos string a tad too far smile

OMG, you crack me up laugh laugh.

It was the chemo that caused the hair loss.  I had 4 blasts of Epirubicon which was a really strong chemo and by the 2nd dose your hair started to thin and was falling out.  As I said I used a cool cap to try and reduce the loss - which was an experience in itself having something freezing cold stuck on your head for hours at a time, lol.  After the Epi chemo was done I had 4 blasts of CMF which was actually 8 doses in all as you got it on day 1 and day 10 but by that stage your hair was starting to come back in.  Unfortunately for me I developed an allergic reacton to the F5U part of the CMF drug.  I had one mouth ulcer on the Thursday and by the following Friday despite having attended various docs as my mouth had developed into one large sore no-one did anything about it bar give me oral morphine for the pain.  I was more than lucky on the Friday I had an appointment at the hospital with Liz to check my bloods.  She had me hospitalized straight away and onto antibiotics.  She told me the following day if I hadn't been lucky enough to have had that appointment on the Friday that I wouldn't have survived to the Saturday as I had no immune system left.   As for my hair it grew back in exactly the same - poker straight and the same crappy colour.  Here was me hoping for a nice vibrant red (you know the kind of colour you only get out of a bottle, lol) or a lovely shade of blonde but no, I wasn't that lucky laugh.  Saying that at the time I was just so relieved it was growing back it could have come back in green and I wouldn't have cared biggrin.  It did grow back in a lot thicker though which was great.  Its down about my bra strap now and I still have no intention of getting it cut.  In the meantime poor Tracy (my hairdresser) despairs of me.  If I ever go in and sit down in the chair and tell her to cut it I swear she will either faint with the shock or she will snip a full length off really quickly so there is no turning back laugh. Its also longer than I ever had it before, it used to get down just past my shoulders and stop growing but its way past that stage Cool.

And here I was imagining you with an afro  nowink

No, it must be a terrible thing for a women to loose your hair.  Social acceptance of a bald woman is bad not to mention the immediate association with a disease and the constant glare of people "poor babe".  Men fortunatly can go bald and have less of that stigmatism.

Glad it's all back, enjoy it smile

That was the thing, without the hair loss no-one would have known I'd had cancer unless I told them up until the point I was hospitalized with the allergic reaction - by that stage I did look ill but the hair loss identified you as a cancer patient which I hated.  I wasn't embarrassed by it or anything, I just didn't want anyone feeling sorry for me.  Have to be honest and I know this might sound a really strange thing to say but I wouldn't change any of the experience for the world.  It taught me I am a damn sight stronger and have a damn sight more fight and determination in me than I ever thought possible as I was dealing with this at the same time as going through a messy break up with my ex (had found the lump within 3 months of us spitting up) and dealing with a 6yr old kid whose world had collapsed and the last 3 people she had known to suffer this disease had died (my mum, gran and Condor's uncle David all within an 8 month period).

The whole situation made me appreciate life more.  I was more concerned about the affect my illness would have on my dad, papa and Rebecca as it was so close on top of losing my mum and gran.  I pretty much took the diagnosis in my stride, it was my mate Aileen who was with me who broke down and cried.  I had great mates who were there supporting me including Condor's mum and dad and Wooster, they treated me absolutely normally which was half the battle.  I couldn't have coped if people were going around handling me with kid gloves.

If I got up in the morning and it was raining and miserable ioutside it was still beautiful, I never felt more alive and attuned to everything around me and I kept upbeat through my treatment.  There are blessings in everything I guess.

Anyway, get back to the original topic now I've had my moan for the day, lol.

Oh god I know - you can say it - I'm a typical woman, always moaning facepalm.  I'm shutting up now, honestly facepalm.

Can't we stick with picking on Victoria Beckham? I really can't abide the woman laugh.
