This is not a 'hack' post. A customer has a pc but has forgotten his logon pword.
Seem to be oodles of tricks on the web and I've tried some but not with much success.
Anyone had any experience with recovering or deleting XP passwords?
PM me if this goes beyond the bounds of this upstanding forum.
Tks

GIJoe suggested using this for the same problem over at PCFF a while back.

There used to be a small Linux based floppy tool that got you in as admin to recover passwords.

I thought booting in Safe Mode would work...user accounts -> password settings?

Thanks people. I'll give that a whack. In the meantime, pressing shift + F10 during a repair installation at the 'installing devices' section brings up the command prompt enabling you to type commands to bring up the user accounts options, but in more depth. Disabling the need to type in a password did the trick.
Bloke needed the PC back in a hurry....Friday job.

Do any of these methods work with Vista? Customer just came in and her password no longer works.
I've heard Trinity Rescue Kit is good. I have no expereince in recovering Vista passwords.
