The new system I'm building soon will be pretty tasty and I'm trying to decide whether to go 32 or 64 bit.
The ram is 4Gb, so that's an issue but I still play quite a lot of older games and have a number of devices like scanners and printers that don't have 64 bit drivers.
What are the main advantages of 64 over 32? Memory seems the most obvious.

The obvious advantage is using that 4GB of memory.

It's a common understanding that 64bit doesn't offer any faster speeds in processing power but it does hold the advantage of being able to address/map larger files into memory meaning larger files are no longer as swap intensive.

Think it deals with floating point mathematics/algorithmics as well meaning intensive stuff like compression and encryption/decryption is speeded up.

Most 32bit apps work exceedingly well in W7 mate, even many drivers.
