How to fix one other Vista annoyance.
By default it treats drives and folders as multimedia storage, so you always have Date Taken and shit at the top of the explorer bar, when Date Modified would be handier.
To change it: My Computer>Explore>Right Click on a drive>Properties>Customise and change the folder template (ticking apply to all subfolders)

If (like me) you have a pile of newsgroup folders with stuff in, here's a tip that saves you trawling through each subfolder. Explore the drive using explorer view (has a file tree on the left), highlight the top folder that contains all the subfolders you want to explore, turn on NUM_LOCK and hit the * on the number pad. This will auto expand every subfolder on the tree on the left.  |
