Keasy, I have a lot of experience with HD tv's. The Sharp Aquos rates on the high end of the LCD's. It tends to run hot(expected), but the HD chipset is one of the best. Their black to gray response is off the charts and they have some of the better digital comb filters. The only thing I see consistently with the Aquos is that they are tuned very flat out of the box(picturewise). The preset pic setings don't do it real justice.I use(d) this
http://www.calibration-direct.com/prodspydertv.html?gclid=CMi8ht-W2I4CFTyKOAodWm4FBA to tune them and the picture quality is fecking mind blowing when they are tuned in at optimum and you save your preferences into the user settings. If you can't buy one, pay the money for someone to come out and tune it for your different viewing habits. It's worth every penny. It usually takes me about half an hour to tune a TV and the guys around here are charging about 60-70$USD to do it.
