Ok my computer basically let out it's last fart this morning, so what I need is a complete new rig (case included). I have a budget of about £500 although I could push just over £550 if it was necessary.

What I'm looking for is a high performance gaming rig so I can join you lot on the server for BC2. I'd prefer if you could use Scan because if I do it that way it all gets delivered for £10 and comes in the one box so it's much more convenient.  Wink

Keep the case and HDD and you can get these for the price range. (just a quickie..)

I think that lot comes to about £440 + your tenner P&P.

One of the things I need is an HDD mate, one I have is only 120gb and I'm under the impression that's going to fail soon as well.  confused

Although, that looks like a good set up so that list + a 500gb HDD and a new case will be right on budget, cheers!  happy

So glad Woosty did that for you there whenever I look at doing a build I end up spending money on my own rig.

Ebuyer will deliver it all for a tenner on express next day delivery. Plus their customer service are better than Scan IMO.

Why have 4 cores when you can have 6 !    Wink

The integrated video obviously is disabled but handy if things go pop.

 Cool

The Phenom II X4 965 also looks pretty handy according to the mixed chart on THG.

I'd have thought the 6 core Phenom III would have been higher (maybe there isn't much out there that fully exploits the 6 core cpu's yet.. scratchhead)

There ain't yet.

But BC2 seems to be his desire and that game fully utilises 4 cores with expectations being that BC2 Vietnam and Battlefield 3 will utilise the hex cores/  Cool

Must admit, now I know I'm going to be working I fancy a wee post Christmas AM3 build myself.

Ok, the Phenom x6 and the motherboard are ordered from Ebuyer and the PSU, RAM and Graphics are on order from Scan.

XFX 5770
AMD Phenom x6
4gb DDR3 XMS
Gigabyte Motherboard
650w Akasa PSU

I'll just use the case I currently have, quick blast out with compressed air will do the business I feel. Thanks lads, I look forward to putting this brute together.  happy

That was a bit quick.
I usually check up on the compatibility of the bits of kit first and google around to see if there any serious problems with any of them.

I had a look for half an hour before I had dinner and from what information I could get a hold of it seems to be sound enough. The only compatability issue there could have been would have been motherboard related but all looks fine.  Wink

Half an hour?  happy
It took me 3 months to choose a TV and 2 months before putting this rig together. tongue2

I thought you were just looking for ideas, that's why I cobbled that kit together in 20 minutes. smile

...In saying that, it looks like it's all going to work though.  Cool Cool Cool
