Asus mobo K8V-X won't see any sata devices.
Sata options in bios rather limited to disable or boot from sata rom...no native or raid options, although it has a raid controller.
Weird, especially as it won't even detect a sata dvd drive. Flashed the bios, cleared cmos, no difference. scratchhead

Is that board from the old 'Press F6 to install 3rd party drivers' days?

i.e. You need to load the Sata driver prior to the windows installation. scratchhead

Splint, I had the same issue because of the Jmicron controller and the fact I was not using raid. You can access it through the main page in bios where there should be "sata controller" and just change it to ide or you can get to it through system devices. Setting it as a ide channel doesn't effect the speed what so ever. Asus's documentation was a little vague on this one.

Yeah and I had to use a floppy with the Via drivers with this board before when the machine was in for repair. I've now taken it in as a PX to use in a crappy case under the sales counter (so it doesn't look nickable)
There are no SATA mode options at all...legacy ide etc.
If all else fails I'll just go IDE

Sorry Splint, I guess I was vague or I misunderstood, but I have my sata drives set up as IDE in the BIOS using the sata cable. It worked for me and solved the recognition problem. I really don't remember clearly why now, something to do with the flaky BIOS update I think. Anyways, there was no performance difference when setting sata drives to IDE and I didn't have to install the flaky BIOS. Anyways, I'm way off base because your controller is entirely different(as you already know). That is what I get for not drinking the whole pot of coffee before attempting to think. tongue2
