Ok, so Jaki and I have bought an hd tv so that I can run my pc and do a bit of gaming without having a full computer set up in her living room. One snag though, she would prefer if it if the pc fitted below the tv which means a desktop horizontal case. Are there any out there that would take a radeon 5770 card, two cd roms, three hard drives? Most if the ones I'm finding are micro atx. Either that or I need a stylish tv stand that'll take a tower pc.

I just googled ATX Desktop Case and this was the first hit from Ebuyer.

*edit* there's only space for one HDD though, so you'd need to caddy the other two (or buy a 1TB Samsung Spinpoint for fifty bucks and use the external SATA port if you have one).

Quoting this from the reviews......

The real problem lies with the PCI/E card height clearances - there is very little space above the MB mounting bracket. This means that most modern GCs will not fit - I have tried both AGP & PCI-E MBs with several Sapphire, HIS & ASUS ATI Radeons ***** and Nvidia **** of various vintages and only my ancient Connect 3D ATI 9800 Pro & Inno3D Geforce FX5900 GCs cleared. Carefully check photos of your intended GC before purchase and make certain that your GC's PCB is not taller than the fixing bracket!

End quote.

Someone was also saying that it wouldn't take a 5870 which I assume would be the same dimensions as the 5770 or there abouts.

I had a quick look there and found nothing, as you said majority are micro ATX. Why not just turn the case you have on it's side (propped up so that it's off the floor)?

Thought about that myself, condor, but wasn't sure if the DVD drives would operate/burn properly if they were in that position.

Would look ultra shit tbh.

I like this it's roomy and has two drive bays.

This also looks roomy with two drive bays.

You could opt for this stylish little number...
http://www.silverstonetek.com/products/p_contents.php?pno=lc17

You could go for a specialist SFF/Micro ATX that will fit your card...
thermaltake lanbox lite

#848 - Thermaltake LANBOX Lite SFF Case Video Review

I think that would take your card as it's specifically built as a portable gaming case.

But the full sized media centre case I posted first wins for me.

That would be ideal mate, thanks very much, I can get a caddy for my other drive and just keep the other DVD drive as a spare. How will I get it from you?
