I've started playing SOC again having just finished Far Cry for the umpteenth time. (Now that's a game with replayability.)
I'm finding it a tad frustrating and wondering if it will ever end.
Still, I suppose that's why they call it Stalker...you have to stalk.

It's that gamepace combined with the bugs that made me not love S.T.A.L.K.E.R. although I wanted to Sad
It promises alot but the endreturn is just a feeling of "not quiet yet"

Atm I'm playing Metro 2033 which is far more linear and scripted but it helps the gamepace tremendously.  The survival horror aspect is also well implemented although the scripted content makes you jump only once in fear.  As soon as you learn what to expect you just reload from a last checkpoint and try again with less fear.  The checkpoint system augments the tension though.  I prefer it to liberal saving anyware in these types of games.

I didn't find that many bugs in the final patched version and had no stability probs or save issues etc.  However if you're only going to play one STALKER, then Call Of Pripyat is where you should be, not SoC.

Think you're right KD.
"you're too exhausted to walk" is one of my least favourite lines in the game, especially when you're in a fix.
