I can see myself getting hooked on this game. I like the pace, the stealth and the 'Deus Ex' style inventory system. The menacing atmosphere, the Russian dialogue and the open terrain all add to the playability. Like

The thing that put me off was the fact that Fallout is the game of this genre, and anything else would be a disappointment having played F3 until 100%. I'm not putting S.T.A.L.K.E.R down by any means, it's just a conflict of interest for me.

Tbh when I first started playing F3, my first impression was that it was a tarted up (far less buggy) version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I'll look at those. I think the reason I like this game also is that you can't go in like Rambo or Gordon Freeman. I think I'll take my time and me money's worth

I played STALKER shortly before Fallout 3. For me, they are two very different games, despite both being nuclear apocalyptic style games. Fallout 3 has a lot more free roaming, all the levelling system, more polished visuals, much more carrying room and feels like an adventuring game. STALKER on the other hand for me feels like a survival game. You can only carry very little, the terrain is a lot more rugged, desolate and has the feeling of abandonment rather than the destruction of Fallout 3. Plus of course it's a fair bit more linear.
So, yes. I enjoyed both games a lot for different reasons. STALKER: Call of Pripyat is still the best of the STALKER games, but SoC is worth playing as well. Clear Sky is a mixed bag.

You guy's might enjoy this title then: http://www.metro2033game.com/Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.
In 2013 the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.
The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.
You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind. Metro 2033 is a gripping, atmospheric first person shooter experience powered by cutting edge technology to deliver incredible visuals. Witness the everyday horrors of a broken society living in constant fear. Brave the darkness of the tunnels, where mutants hunt their prey and ghostly spirits lurk. Explore the desolate city-surface, trusting your gas mask and rifle to protect you from a poisoned world and the creatures that roam there. Steel your nerve and prepare to face the terrors that await.

I remember reading the PCF review of this game and the title of the review was 'I nearly soiled my pants!' WTF? I have nearly become comatose.

CoP on max in DX11 is NOT sub standard. I wouldnt mind that statement so much, but Fallout 3 is waaay antiquated using a donkeys years old engine!!! (yes I know STALKER's aint young) It depends what you're after - are you after a fps or an RPG. CoP leans towards FPS (I personally prefer). Fallout 3 leans towards RPG. Personally I'll take cracking balistics over reams of drab dialogue any day Still cant believe your comment on the graphics though. Both arent the best looking, but Fallout 3 is one washed out bland ugly mother fucker even with huge texture mods added.

fallout 3's art style is tremendous and for the most part the world is more believable cause there is no apparent zoning while traveling apart from entering/exiting buildings. I prefer that for immersion then a beautifully rendered but over sharded environment like it was the case in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. That and the numerous of bugs in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. on release killed the mood
