Richard Dawkins isn't anti god. He's anti-religion and with good reason in my book.

On the subject of god he freely admits he'd change his mind in an instant if evidence arose that was compelling. You can't say the same for the majority of people who "know" god exists, even though the evidence is compelling that he doesn't.

Dawkins is a new atheist and as such is an arsehole.

There it goes as predictable as can be, it got to a point where people are just laughing at other people.

Anyhoo as much as I dislike Dawkins a quote I found from him actually quoting some other  made me laugh...

""Science is interesting, and if you don't agree you can fuck off.

Note: Dawkins was quoting a former editor of New Scientist Magazine, who is as yet unidentified (possibly Jeremy Webb?)"
— Richard Dawkins"

Dawkins does have a punchable face. laugh

Though i wouldn't say he's an arsehole or "new atheist" he stands up against the same shitty aspects of religion as most enlightened and spiritual people do, he's passionate about it and i respect him for it.

He's good friends with many highly regarded religious people, he's respected by well learned and sensible religious people. He reads the bible for the literal work of art that it is. He's not a God hater, his main beef is with religion not with god.

According to searches I've done he is a new atheist.

you compare "new atheism" to fundamentalism. That couldn't be further from the truth. Dawkins may be new atheist but not the one you describe.

From religion to semantics in one quick flip!  laugh laugh Dawkins is a smart guy and he definitely knows more than I do, but he is just a man waiting for proof. Same as any other atheist. tongue2

That's true.
It's be nice if it were true that there's some kind of continuance, but it's a waste of time expecting it without a single shred of evidence of it being the case (ergo: it's a false hope).

Far better that you treat the time you have with the respect it deserves...or not, and accept that you are in the habit of wasting it (like me*).  tongue2

On the subject of Dawkins, did anybody see the "faith schools crisis" docu on more 4?

That was an eye opener. The only school that let him in was a Muslim school, and the "science" teacher's reply on the oft asked question / argument

"If Evolution is real, and we are evolved from Apes, why are there no in-betweens?"

A Muslim kid asked this and Dawkins deferred the question to the science teacher, who was stumped, even though she taught (her version) of Evolution.

The answer is that we are not evolved from apes, we are apes, evolving in a different direction, from a common ancestor.
