Facebook is a huge mistake.
Dont let your children create Facebook accounts.
On Facebook your children talk about things said within the family, they tell the world.
Your children will all apply for a job one day, the prospective employer will check what they had to say on Facebook as they were growing up.
I personally know some little turds who have said some dissgusting and horrible things on Facebook and any public forum. Gaming channels included. You cannot say the horrid shit and expect that it wont come back and get you.
It is not hard to track IP addresses and easier still to identify on line users.
Go for a job in the not to distant future and expect your potentiall employer to have a look at your on line history. Owch.

It's just a matter of time before one of these social networking sites starts to offer a chargeable background check to employers. Getting around the privacy issues could be quite easy as well if the employer just picks subjects to be included in a questionnaire i.e. Has x ever indicated that they have regularly taken drugs? Has x ever displayed anger management issues? All the employer would get back is a series of Y/N answers without specific details....but that would be something for the lawyers to argue over.

There's another issue, how long will it be until those kinds of details could be used in court? *edit* It has already.. http://sify.com/finance/divorce-lawyers-facebook-tops-in-online-evidence-us-news-news-kg3hamhiehi.htmlIronically two of the examples cited are the same as the example questions I posted earlier. Husband denies anger management issues but posts on Facebook in his "write something about yourself" section: "If you have the balls to get in my face, I'll kick your ass into submission." Mom denies in court that she smokes marijuana but posts partying, pot-smoking photos of herself on Facebook.

World famous oxygen thief Paris 'ugly' Hilton is in trouble because of facebook. She was stopped by police when driving or something and her handbag fell, revealing a spill of illicit drugs, cocaine I think. She protested and claimed the handbag to be a friends that she borrowed, but the stupid waste of space had posted it up on facebook a week or so earlier, proclaiming her love for her new handbag http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/09/who-owns-paris-hiltons-purse-doesnt-matter-las-vegas-police-say.htmlAh, it was twatter not facebook.

At the end of the day it all comes down to common sense if you don't want it known then don't post it simple I use FB as a way of staying in touch with other toggers & to find out what they are up to,not to know about there personal lives. It's like a lot of stuff out there if you use it right then it's fine

I received an email bomb threat at work last year and the idiot had sent it from his hotmail account. We googled the name and pulled up two gaming forums he had joined using that name. Created accounts on the forums and got his details from the member list. The police were very impressed with it when we gave them his address.

I must say sorry to the OP. I go off on some weird tangent all the time. Thats how I talk in rl. Someone will say something and I cant keep track of the subject because what they were saying sparked my mind into thinking something else entirely. Maybe I thought their comment was boring, or better still was not as interesting in my mind as what just took over. . . . if you know what I mean. I have a lot of friends . . . not.
