I've almost made my mind up, just looking for some as yet unknown reason to not do it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130568 -rear exhaust = huge bonus Lifetime warranty. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162056 Bonus=huge vendor supported OC, but I would need to rearrange my case cooling to be more gpu specific. It also has a drop down fan to enable easy cleaning of the heatsink. 2 year warranty. I'm not doing any ATI because there's nothing in the price range that will touch it. It smokes 5830s and comes near a 5850 for $30USD less for just a vanilla. What thank you?

What thank me is that you're a lucky bleeder.
But tbh I'd still be weary of nVIDIA as isn't the manufacturing is supposed to plagued with the same problems as the past few years ?
Although the lifetime warranty would cover that.

If you've not bought, sit on your hands... the 6000 series is due in November.
The 6770 is spec wise is... remarkably similar to the 5870

Hey corroded, what's up? Long time no see. I already bought. All the research I've done has made me comfortable in my choice. In SLI, the 460's are hard to touch for the value, and that's where I'm going.

What do people look for, performance wise in a new video card? These are the specs of my Sapphire HD 5770 1Gb Is it the amount of stream processors? Core speed? Mem speed? Lots of factors to take into account For me it was pretty much academic as it was a new build and the move away from a Leadtek 6800GT AGP 256Mb with a core speed of 350Mhz to my current setup was quite a leap. In it's day, the old 6800GT was quite a performer

The 6800 GT is legendary. I had one it it's my second favourite all time video card.
Nothing will touch my Sparkle Geforce 4 TI 200. What a performer for the bucks that card was.

This news sits well with me. Been choking for a new mid range card for ages, so this might see the 5870's falling right into my price range.

I had a GF4 TI4600, I agree. They were legendary. Splint, I look at a lot of things for the video card. Real life benches are nice, but drivers can always make a significant difference in those. I usually try to compare apples to apples as much as possible, but that's almost impossible considering that most chips vary widely, even in the same series. 460GTX 1Gb Core Clock 775MHz (std 675) Shader Clock 1430MHz Stream Processors 336 Processor Cores Memory clock 2000 (std 1800)
