Not as unlikely as it might seem. Those in power like to keep things in the family, so to speak. Even more likely would be the vast distances and length of time traveled to just a neighboring town. I was watching a documentary the other day(unrelated) and they were talking how in the early days 10 miles would often be considered a 2 day trip with poor to nonexistent pathways. It was also dangerous to boot. So I could see some of of the colonists and later generations staying close to home. |
