I got this

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/19497

Last year.  Only just used the soldering iron.  Seemed to kick in, heat up, smoke a bit out of the vents how assume it's suppose to.  Then slowly went cold.  What's up?  Is it dead?

Has a lifetime warranty the tool kit.  Do I claim from Ebuyer or Belkin as it's a few months over a year old?

I have a kit like that joe and it has a interchangeable heating tip. It has a collar on the handle that you thread off and pull the element out. The element has two metal studs that are the fixed leads for the elements voltage path. Maybe you have the same model?  scratchhead If maybe you do, the replacement element is very minor change at any hobby shop. Good luck.

Ordered a cheap temp controlled one from Maplin instead smile along with the robo arm.  Will try and contact Belkin though see what they do about it.
