Watching Donald Trump All American Billionaire on BBC 2.  Appears he wants to build a $750million or might be in £ golf course in Scotland.  Being interested in millionaires and billionaires it interests me seeing this.  As a lot of people it's a dream in my head to be a millionaire, billionaire would be even better smile but anyway.  People are objecting to it

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-north-east-orkney-shetland-11635745

But people also need to remember with the current economy, would this not be a really good thing for Scotland?  Creating loads of jobs and potentially bringing lots of rich American's into the area for the golf tourism.

Mad the way he lives in his office building but a cool idea.  Lives in the pent house suite and then takes the lift down to work.  No community for him smile

I can see why some people are objecting now.  Donald is being an arsehole to the farmer that is refusing to sell.  They don't need his land, they just don't want the $400k hotel to have a view of the run down farm.

This has been going on for years now.  I read that some local Councillors objected at one point and he wanted them sorted out for opposing him.  I think through political pressure to get them to stand down.

Dunno, I'm willing to give the guy a fair crack but he talks some amount of pish.*

Environmental groups are against it, the locals are against it but the Trump train keeps going.
Look at it this way, how many elite golf courses can Scotland accommodate? If you add another, won't it just be taking away from the ones we have?

DT: 93% of the locals support the plan.
EM: Where did you get that figure from?
DT: A newspaper article...I don't have the details to hand but we can get it for you.
DT Spokesperson (Later, after they failed to find anything that supported the claims): 93% is common figure in many polls.

The film Local Hero springs to mind. smile

Thing is, Trump should realise some people may want the natural view, the view of the farm.  So why don't they offer to pay for it to be tidied up.  But get the impression the farmer would still say fuck off.  I think people like Trump don't understand people like making a home and area their home and won't just up sticks and move.

Used to getting his own way I reckon.

I signed up to the 38 Degrees petition against it months ago.
Don't know if it was them or another who bought a plot of land on the course as well and invited everyone to become a partial owner of the plot...signed up to that one as well.

You don't become a millionaire if you don't make sure you do get your own way.

Indeed... asking nicely and accepting the response are the domain of those who don't... not those who do.

I want this, I'm going to get this... the billionaires way. It's how most big things get built, and why things like the Compulsory Purchase Order exist.

If Trump gets the permissions, watch that farmer get a CPO.... it's almost a given.

I think my Football club, Spurs, will be applying for a CPO to build their new stadium...
