Gulf of Mexico oil leak: US sues BP for spill damages

FFS. They already paid out more money but now the US want to sue them as well.  If they keep suing them, they'll go bust and no one will get any fucking money.

Maybe I'm biased as now own shares in BP but still.  It's in no ones interest if they go bust.

Maybe.

Looks like it's all ok though as BP was prepared for this so has the money to pay out if needed.

Shares are still up at 470 so doing ok, haven't been that good in a while.  I brought at 390 so tiny profit.

I see BP as a corporation regardless of where they are headquartered. The thing is that I'm not sure some vested interests from the Bush era weren't covered in this whole process. I do not trust anything where Halburton and Cheney are concerned. I'm hoping (uselessly after watching the congressional hearings) that somewhere along the line Halliburton is also forced into this action. They are one of the biggest players in the military action supply chain and I'd like to see them out. I'd like to see anyone who got their hands dirty with the last administration put up for political assassination. Just do a Google on Halliburton, BP and the oil spill. I'm not saying BP should go free. I just think we should put all players on the stage with this lawsuit, now that it is initiated. The cost of this will be felt for generations. I've met some of the shrimp boat captains whose wages can't be fully documented and aren't getting enough to support their families because of the oil spill. These people haven't ever asked a thing from the government and aren't getting shite now after supporting a part of the economy for many years. The scientists that are now finding that the damage might be worse to the sea floor than imagined. And that is where the shrimp are. I am a capitalist and want everyone to make money joe, but not when other people are suffering for it.

But there are also other reports I've heard about, have no reference as read it ages ago, that the damage wasn't actually as bad as people made out.

So who do we believe.

Some of the oil spills in Nigeria recently have been far worse, but we don't see much about those on the news because it's Africa.  confused

Like Therm, the very mention of Halburton conjures images of greed, corruption and evil for me.

All parties should be held to account and I found it strange that Halburton were immune from this.

The US wants to buy the company, that is why they are suing them i.e. they will have control of our oilfields elsewhere in the world, including some that we have an agreement with the Russians, i.e. BP are easy bait

I rather it be shell than some American company, because if the Americans buy them, I would say that the explosion wasn't accidental, it was sabotage
