The 3d rage pro was my first card and you could add a memory module to increase it to 8Mb!
I later moved over to 3dfx SLI!

They're dropping the ATi brand ?

Why ?

It conjures images of fast bang per buck gfx cards far more than the AMD brand does.

Fusion tech... CPU+GPU stuff... fly the flag of AMD with integrated graphics.. then you can have discrete versions of CPU and GPU, under the same flag.

ATi does have a few negative issues, like drivers... especially previously (since AMD have been in, they've much improved). Make sense to keep Radeon though since that is the bigger brand in my opinion.

Cool I was reading an article by Mike Magee, and he was saying that it's generally agreed that buying ATI was one of smartest maneuvers that Dirk Meyers made. The way in which they acted when he resigned from AMD doesn't leave me with a whole lot of confidence in the board of directors. I think Dirk was the catalyst to some major improvements company wide, from engineering to product planning. There have been several "retired" AMD employs that have been quoted as saying that they should change the name to ATI instead of the other way around. I just hope that Fusion works well for them. If it does, we might see AMD & Intel trading blows at every price level. Most significant will be the as yet unimagined raw power that will be available in mobile devices from both companies. I wouldn't mind a true full on 1080p htpc the size of large HD......................back on topic. I do see the value in keeping the ATI name. They could use it to distinguish high end discrete graphics from more mainstream "blended" cpu/gpu stuff. I was kind of sad to hear that the ATI moniker was going away when they announced it last year.

I had an All-in-Wonder card, I did not like it one bit, this caused me to move over to Nvidia, though they don't have never had a card with a tv tuner (I maybe wrong again), I found that more acceptable than ATi in performances

I have never tried ATi since

TV tuner cards never really worked properly. IMO at least. Never saw one on the market that did not have droves of complaints about. The move to digital broadcast helped a bit. But not by much.
