With two hard drives, one an SSD if possible.
And as much RAM as a flock of sheep would drool over.

I think SSD's are overhyped.

Btw, this should be in Technical Help.

Wtf are these admins playing at? We'd be as well having only one board.

I'm wondering if I really need the unlocked multiplier of the 'K' editions as the leap I'm making from my current rig is going to feel huge anyway .

Plus the 20 bucks I'd save could help towards a new monitor.

Hmmmm. Decisions decisions.

Thread moved into the depths where geeks graze on slime growing on the walls and liquid silicon oozes over pictures of porn Blu-taked to every available space.

The new 2600k CPU kicks arse but costly and there even a newer stuff out next year so I going on cheaper but high spec machine for gaming only as my current rig is ok for daily use.

This is what I got so far;

MSI x58m full 16x16x crossfire £80
Corsair DDR3 XMS 1600 £55
Intel i7 950 3.06Ghz £180
Corsair H50 cooler (water unit) £38
NZXT Vulcan micro Atx case £60
Coolermaster 850w PSU £60
HD5850 £125.00. (have one of these in my rig now so can use crossfire if I want to)

Total £658

Which I dint think is bad for a nice spec pc.
The other reason why I didn't go the sandy route was not just money but they limit crossfire to 8x8x which I know you might not see much difference but I want to make full use of 16x16x

All less than 900$USD. I don't think the price in Big Mac's can't be all that different from here to there in real world money.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125333 The graphics cards are a little opinionated. the 460GTX and the 6850 trade blows on the charts once you OC the 460GTX a little, which the 6850 does not do so well at. That being said, I wouldn't kick either card out of my bed.

So that's my idea of my damn sexy dream pc. What's yours?

Keas, on the subject of the K series... I nearly bought one and decided against it in the end. Frankly, I just couldn't see me needing to overclock it during it's main lifetime, and during it's extended longer lifetime, it's largely unlikely I'd even bother to overclock it.

Generally, I like to overclock now and again, but I don't think you'd really notice that much difference in the horse power between.

Yeah, I agree.

I've decided to skip the 'K' series and go for the locked 2500.

What you guys think of this package ?
