From what I hear it's a 22 man team including a UK Diplomat.
Getting 'captured' was probably taken into account when they planned it out (it's not like they can start shooting the people they're trying to make contact with), so maybe that's why there are still 14 of them still at large. (Keeping an eye on things?)
Whoever has them have probably shot themselves in the foot given they've probably blown their chances of covert support and expertise by advertising the fact that they have the team.
(I reckon it was all done on the fly due to the resentment across the Arab world about western interference in their affairs...that, and the fact that Gaddafi might still win.)
