Why the big sneaky ?

Perhaps the real mission is well under way thanks to this smokescreen.

From what I hear it's a 22 man team including a UK Diplomat.

Getting 'captured' was probably taken into account when they planned it out (it's not like they can start shooting the people they're trying to make contact with), so maybe that's why there are still 14 of them still at large. (Keeping an eye on things?)
Whoever has them have probably shot themselves in the foot given they've probably blown their chances of covert support and expertise by advertising the fact that they have the team.  nowink

(I reckon it was all done on the fly due to the resentment across the Arab world about western interference in their affairs...that, and the fact that Gaddafi might still win.)

They're off home again.

It seems they were just a bodyguard team in plain clothes.

Still, doesn't account for the reports that there were more.
Maybe there was more than one contact team.  scratchhead

So a no fly zone is looking more likely but America keeps saying isn't enforceable and a general said it can only be forced by bombing all their planes etc.  But we've scrapped all our harriers so that was a good idea then.

Why send in the diplomats and SAS when the rebels have been saying they want no help.  Although sounds like they are changing their tune.  And no doubt, when they start winning they'll want us to fuck off again.  And if they win will probably tell the west to fuck off.  Cynical?

Some do and some don't, the problem is the rebel forces aren't a cohesive group.  confused

I heard a few days ago that some Dutch forces are being held in Libya too.

It's in our own interests to help a democratic government take control.
