'An how faust kin it ging?'

« on: October 09, 2007, 08:42:45 AM »

I bought those boots yesterday without looking at the label.. Sad

Reports are coming out of Burma that the Monks who were protesting a couple weeks ago aren't in fact just being detained, but being executed in their hundreds, possibly thousands.
China is one of the Burmese regimes major backers and has consistently refused to condemn their actions and put a halt to the deaths, so that 'Made In China' sticker is reason enough to leave the goods rotting on the shelf IMHO.  dry

Guess where the boots were made?

Never again..

I'm sure all those designer jeans and T-Shirts you wear are probably made in some repressive country, or by kids in a sweat shop.

Some of the shoes are (China, Vietnam), but the clothes aren't..they're made in the EU

You'll probably find that it's the cheap stuff that's made in sweatshops by kids..hence the price.

It's hardly the point though, is it?
Up until recently I didn't have any issue with China.

it hurts me to say this, but i have to agree with ctulu on this.

u can't change the chinsese governments actions and thoughts by not buying their products anymore. first of all the producers of those goods will feel the hurt, not the government. second of al....chinese people are to proud to just change tactics because western people want it. they will let their citizens die of hunger and thirst before they admit they are doing a bad job at governing china.

the world is a bad place....always has been, always will..where humans have power, wrong things will happen.

So you are saying that individuals can't make a difference?

That is nonsense!
If every individual stopped buying Chinese products then their country would go bankrupt, it's as simple as that.

The day you stop believing that you can make a difference is the day you become a doormat.
