a suggestion for a set top box that will let me stream video content in HD that includes a BD. Not really interested in surfing the webzor in the living room, so I'm thinking I don't really need a htpc. I've looked at several options, Patriot box office(out, no streaming), Roku or Boxee(on the fence, not liking HD options and BD integration isn't the best it seems), Slingbox(out, no BD). Admittedly, my knowledge may be incomplete and wrong because I haven't spent much time on this, but I'm hoping for some suggestions or corrections that might make it easier for me. A htpc is not out of the question, just not preferable because I want as small a foot print as possible and I won't be doing anything pc related in the living room. A hard drive based system that streams seems to be the ideal thing, but I'm open to all ideas.

Yeah a PS3 would do all that you want but if that dont float your boat then I found these options DunePopcorn HourThe Popcorn one doesn't ship with an inbuilt Bluray drive but you can put your own OEM one in ( Guide )

I couldnt get along with the PS3 for streaming content. Also copying content (downloaded) lead to DRM issues and not being able to play.
My solution was to switch to the 360 (with HDMI) and a USB stick. No whirring PC in the background and crisp movies! Music, I do stream.
XBOX is a great media centre - I have not used my PC Media Centre for yonks...it is collecting dust

That's out though: No Blu-Ray
I don't have any probs streaming to the PS3, it's becoming a bit redundant though since I have at least two other methods of getting content onto the TV (straight over HDMI or via my shared folder to my DM800HD)

Hmm. Being able to stream Netflix or Similar in HD is important I think. PS3 would be good, but I've already got multiple consoles in the living room and they are all for my kids. I have the Wii, PS2 and Xbox360(choke, I can't believe I admitted to the Xbox. ) in my living room already and can't get interested in any of them. That means the PS3 is probably out, though that's the one I would probably use the most. Blue ray is a must. I wouldn't mind having something with a hard drive for cacheing, but I don't think I really want to do a media server. I am open to changing my mind on any of this though. Damn, there has to be something simple out there. Edit: Is this a bad deal? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882005049

Through the hdmi port on the back of my 460GTX!(BTW,I'm thinking of getting the 560Ti. Anyone interested in a 460) Yes, I bought a 12ft $30 dollar cable that I routed through the wall. Still haven't figured out why. Early on. Still working on it, but a little closer. Still a work in progress as you can see. The cables still need bundling and I'll end up painting the speaker and cable/dvr box black to match. SWMBO says hanging the speaker on the wall is not an option. My Droid camera is throwing some weird artifacts. I guess it's the lighting.

Nice turtle mate! Hallcat loves turtles. His previous home was on top of the old tv with other decorations. Obviously, he isn't going to fit there anymore. We still have to sort the living room out as there is sh*t everywhere now, but I'm watching a movie at the moment.
