I have a wireless mouse thats only a few months old, its just stopped working. Batterys are new, drivers are up to date, device manager not giving an error with the usb wireless node thingy. Nothing happens at all, no cursor movement, no clicks register on the laptop.

Any ideas? hardly time for a new mouse already is it?

Its a microsoft intellipoint yolkamibob. Theres no sync button on it, just an on switch (thats on dry ) and a little button to pop out the usb node thingy when ye want to remove it from the mouse.

Turned it off and back on again?  tongue2

It might have gotten itself mixed up with the drivers, as USB devices sometimes do.
There's a proggie called USBDeview http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html that I've used in the past when USB devices stop being recognised correctly.

I had a USB keyboard that was having problems (started showing as a Human Interface Device) and used that to remove all of the USB devices from the system so that it could recognise them afresh.

Was the dongle recognised, or was that totally dead when plugged in?

It was recognised, driver installation started and loaded the Microsoft Nano Tranciever drivers then it popped up that the device is ready to use, turned on the mouse and zip, nada, nothing.

I have a spare mouse if you want it. I plugged in the usb bluetooth adapter BACKWARDS. It lasted all of about 30 seconds from getting it back from the shop.  facepalm
(No idea if any other bluetooth adapter will work with it...)

Cheers ben, how did you manage to plug it in backards? did you wreck the usb port?  ohmy

I opend the wireless mouse config panel and on the graphic it looks as though the left click is stuck on, and when i right click it doesnt register until about 10 seconds after when it toggles back and forth from left click to right click. I tried turning off the touchpad when the laptop detects a usb mouse incase it was getting confused and that didnt work.
