Chiefs at NHS Glasgow and Edinburgh have banned hospital staff from taking working lunches during the month of Ramadan for fear of offending Muslims.
My wife who is a nurse, works for 12 and a half hours and I tell no lie when I say of her three entitled breaks, one of 20 minutes in the morning, one of 30 mins in the afternoon and one of 20 minutes between four and six, she often takes only the twenty minute break in the morning.
She does is as she has no time to do her work, she isn't paid for that time but she gives it up to get the job done.
This is the thanks she and other staff are given ? Told they can't have a sandwich at the nurses station as she fills paper work in her own time ?
Vending machines have also been removed from public areas.
It's utter nonsense and in the push to not offend muslims

during ramadan everyone else is being offended and their views and wants ignored.
A head doctor in Edinburgh (sorry no more info it was a news paper article) who is a muslim himself said that the powers that be, have not got a clue and are verging on madness.
No muslim is offended by others eating during their fast.
I've told my wife to make sure she takes her breaks from now on, but it isn't in force in our NHS region...YET! And even when it does I know her commitment and fear of losing her job or being held to account in a court of law for neglecting her duties will make sure she continues to work throuigh her break, minus her basic human right of a bite to eat through the course of the day.
