The current party in power in Scotlands devolved government is the Scottish National Party.
They have never made any quams about their anti nuclear capability stance. Anyway, they thankfully do not control defence, that's is done at a national level from the UK government.
So the Scottish nationalsits are very much against the regeneration of Britains Trident nuclear programme, this matters to them greatly as the British nuke subs are based in Scotland. The Nats have now found a way to halt the Trident programme or at least stop it being housed on Scottish waters.
Like thus...
To update the Trident programme a series of dry dock have to be built, planning permissions have to be assesed, evaluated and risked for enviromental impact. Giving the Nats control the areas where these docks are going to be built they have already made it clear that there shall be increased sewage

amongst other reasons to halt the programme or at least in Scottish waters. So the Nats get their way and the nukes are out of Scotland.
Personaly I'm a believer in Mutualy Assured Destruction and believe nukes have a post cold war role to play in this ever increasing World where we know not our enemy like we did CW past.
I never voted the Nats, but when they got into power I have to raise a hand and admit that that they have started to do some stuff that I believe socially just and fair. Just starting to get grips with the idea of them and actualy liking it when they start this idiotic (IMO) display of throwing a spanner in the works.
Leave the defense at a UK level and stop interfering you fecks!!!
