Winter is coming!

« on: April 03, 2011, 12:03:51 AM »

It's hard to be politically opinionated in Scotland.

Fact is our politics are influenced by a lot prejudices and bigotry.

I'm sick of it.

I'm a republican because I think Scotland needs to be a republic, a free non birth right led (haha) grown up that puts fundamental ideology first, not some crazy sense of tribal loyalty.

Until we do, well, what chance do we stand ? None, we can't even serve political allegiance to each other because that's what we deem correct and proper, becasue some centuries old non relevant past grieviances still cloud what's sensible.

Scotland...grow up.
Until we do get over the shit fest that is Scottish sectarian influenced politics, what chance do we stand ?

Meh, country full of football team you support determines who you vote ?

No chance.
We're no where near mature enough to go it on our own.
Pity, cause those Tory bastards do my frickin nut in !    tongue2

Their policies could have destroyed our communities, but they didn't (and we have long memories).

Maybe that's what they had in mind...the old 'crush the Scots' idea.

Fat chance of that ever happening.

I'm not saying that your dislike/hatred/anger/loathing (delete as appropriate) wasn't justified, just the solution has been to create way too much opposition.

Isn't that how democracies work ? The more support you get to your opposition the more chance you get hence get elected and placed in power ?  Wink

I don't understand your statement mate. Single fact is, anyone who has a political belief that isn't just interchangeable from one election to the next will have core fundamental idealogical based political opinions and views. The Tories happen to strike at the very core of those beliefs for many of us. We have already experienced their fundamental ideologies, which is to sell everything you can and not care if it decimates entire communities in the process.

dislike/hatred/anger/loathing (delete as appropriate)..

All four do perfectly fine.  tongue2

I'm not deaf to what they are saying though, I'll grant them a listen and agree if they're making sense.

You've take opposition in the strict political sense, I was talking about "opposition" as in "differing groups", that don't all have the same remit, and believes. As in, there are too many political parties in Scotland. They need to merge up a bit (like the Liberals and Democrats did)

With PR they're in with a chance though, and they form their alliances if they get a seat.

(If it wasn't for PR the Tory Party in Scotland would be almost non existent)

With AV, and I believe AV+ even the Liberal Democrats will get less representation.

What we want is Single Transferable Vote.

Scotland will love that, you get to Vote against the Tories multiple times on the same form ;p
