But that's what we're saying, if you leave school at 14 you haven't even begun the 2 years of studying set out for your exams....nevermind actually gained any.
Can't see any environment, other than maybe Ethiopia that something like this could possibly work and/or be benefitial.
Right I didnt it read properly and didnt take in that she was talking about actually changing the leaving age to 14 (dont ask !) I read and thought of my own way of how its been done before. There is no way that thats how it should go down.
I do belive that there is a place for gaining practical skills along side a full time education though. Places like this
http://www.ekgta.com/index.asp must be all over the place, that place was on the go when I was at school and you could get day release to go and learn some trade skills if thats the vocational route you would prefer to go down. Then you can apply for a full time place there upon finishing your exams if you still want to pursue a trade.
As I said the downside of there not being enough employment opportunities for the when you do finish there but you still have a standard education as well as some other practical skills that you learn in places like that to help you get on in life. I know at least 2 guys who went down that route and once there time was out they were out!! Purely down to there workplace was no longer getting any subsidies towards there pay anymore and it was time to move on to the next bunch of apprentices
