Tried the demo before and it kept sticking and slowing. I think it was more than likely a VM Superhub R25 problem Grabbing the demo now and it's downing at a respectable 1.1 MB/sec

The trial account has limited functionality and playtime. To continue playing a full game version you will need to purchase a retail or digital Rise of Flight — and activate a license key on your trial account. After license key activation your trial account will be upgraded to a full account.

Not that I can find, it has constant connection DRM so if you have nointernets then no playing the game, even single player, so I'm thinking feck this.

My demo key didn't arrive so not got to play it.

Emailed them and no reply, doesn't bode well.

FWIW I bought IL2 1946 from Steam and applied a widescreen fix, it still looks frickin awesome.

I've grabbed a 'megamod' pack but still to work out how to install it.

Is it 1946 ?Sturmovik won't work with the new patches for the mod packs.

You need 1946  Wink

I'm having loads of fun with this - Knights Of The Sky sequel at last  Cool

Community is great and so is the state of the game... been a while since this thread was started so cant comment on its state of play back then  Wink

DRM: There is a need to connect to a server when you initially log in to show what planes you've bought/stuff tied to your account, but there is now an offline mode.  All works without a hitch for me  happy

I got an email for the benchy of the MMO: World of Planes.

It's through YuPlay and based on Sturmovik (I think)..it ain't bad.  Cool

btw.. the video above doesn't do it full justice even at 1080, must be something to do with the compression. confused
(It looks better than that on the benchmark)

It's Dx9 again, but like RO2 it looks like a sensible trade off in order to get a decent amount of players online and running smooth.  Wink

..the skins and detail on the planes are pretty sweet (airbrakes on the Corsairs for example)  Cool

ROF is rock hard at times.... I've blown up a few trucks and balloons, but taking down another plane is damn hard.  I got one, but only because I clipped his fuel tank and after a while of dog fighting he dropped out of the sky due to no fuel  laugh

A decent joystick is pretty much a must for this btw!

May go onto some WW2 stuff at some point smile

Just done my first sortie on the actual career.  Brilliant stuff - early am take off and the atmosphere from early morning mist and sun rise was spot on.

Simple objective - get across no-mans land and take down a German observation balloon.  Took me several sweeping runs on balloon, but flak from German line was minimal and eventually had the balloon go down in a ball of flames.  Then once back to base, landing on the bumpy airfield is of equal concern to shooting at the balloon.  After several sweeps I drop her in and thankfully landed beautifully.

Now in any other game the above sounds straight forward and maybe even boring - but in Rise Of Flight, the whole experience was truly exhilarating.

And for staying the course and not giving up on the balloon (several sweeps, glad I took more fuel along) I've been awarded the War Cross.  Not bad for my first sortie  Cool

So great stuff, but I just know it'll be ages before I bring down another plane (without him just running out of fuel from chasing me lol)
