Just as a cautionary tale, I bought a Netgear WG311v3 (it's a g, not an n)... biggest piece of shit I've ever bought.

p.s. Bear in mind that the 802.11n 5GHz band suffers from a lot more attenuation than g @ 2.4GHz, so you don't get the same range through walls and floors.

With that in mind it might be worth buying a dual band job that gives you the option of g or n.

OMG I got one too (PCI, should have opted for a pci express/usb card instead. Sad). It's a great piece of hardware (theoretically) but no drivers. In fact, the mess of the netgear drivers in general puts me off their products. The exception is the routers, as your not driver interacting with them

Lately, I've been buying Linksys usb dongles. They work for me well and the default drivers work well, which is a plus if you're out somewhere with no web access. The other day I walked two rooms over and was able to connect to my phone off of one. That surprised me, especially since it was operating off a laptop that wasn't plugged in(integrated card had failed and I happened to have one with me). If I'm off topic, I'm still asleep. tongue2

I tried to get it running under Linux. It work, hell no. The Linux installation requires you to emulate Windows Drivers, so you install a wrapper then run that. It never works. Doesn't work in Windows 7 either. I tried to get it working for about eight hours, thought fuck that and eventually bought some Homeplugs.

Windows 7 will install a Vista drive/generic driver if you use windows update/search.
However, it's an old driver, or not fully supported. It has bugs, and it has a very limited list of options. So annoying to use if not perfect. I can get it working fine. But if anything disturbs it, I might have to reset the pc to get it to enable.

i ended up running a wire instead. It was for streaming HD movies to my PS3.

I never could get HD to stream over 11g, i think even on 11n you might get the occasional problem
