Canadians, Cherry Suede are over for their first UK tour, I've been talking to them online for a while and I took my mate to see them on Friday night for her birthday.  They couldn't afford to bring the whole band over so it was just the two Randy's and they played an acoustic set with The Mars Patrol supporting them.

When we went into the venue, Ross and Davina (guitarist and singer) from TMP came right over and chatted away.  When they learned that my daughter couldn't make it because of age restrictions they said it was a pity that she hadn't accompanied us into Glasgow as they would have nipped outside with their guitars and played a couple of songs for her, to which I'm thinking aye, right, thats easy to say.  However, at the end of the night Ross phoned Becca to say how sorry he was that she didn't make it to the gig which was really sweet and it made her night  Cool

My mates Kelly, her hubby Michael and another Jovi buddy Melissa eventually turned up.  Before TMP were due on, Randy Y (guitarist) from CS came over and sat and had a drink with us, just chilling and talking about musical likes and dislikes.  Michael utterly loathes Bon Jovi, he told Randy if he played anything by them he would flash his ass at them, he is a huge 3 Doors Down fan.  Randy told me to go to the merchandise stall at the end of the night and pick up a poster or cd and they would sign it for Rebecca as it was a shame she was missing out.  During the show they said they were going to play Jovi to which Michael groaned, they then broke into 3 Doors Down's Kryptonite, which ironically was Michael's fave song by them although he hadn't said that to Randy when we were talking to him.

Cherry Suede were absolutely awesome, I'm less familiar with TMP music but they were a damned good live band.

After the gig they stayed on and had a drink, taking pics and having a laugh.  The language differences were hilarious, during the show Randy S announcing in his best Scots accent that he's learned a new word tonight "pished" - I wasn't btw, nor was I the one leading them astray, they did a pretty good job of that on their own  tongue2  They were really cool guys and both had a great sense of humour.  At the end of the night Randy S gave me his red bandana  Cool

They were playing Edinburgh on Saturday night but unfortunately due to personal reasons Aileen couldn't go so we sat it out.

However on Sunday both bands announced they were doing gig at Red Dog Music in the afternoon.  Think Rebecca was up, ready and on the way to Edinburgh before she knew where she was.  When we went in Ross saw us right away and came over, gave Rebecca a big hug and told her it was great that she had made it up to see them.  When the 2 Randy's caught sight of her that was it, piss taking began, lol.  Randy Y high fived her (was the limpest high five I've ever seen her do in my life) and Randy S came over and totally took the piss out of her thanking her for coming to their show on Friday night.  Randy Y asked her favourite song and she replied In Pieces and he said he was really sorry but they don't play it anymore.  Aileen loves Why and I whispered to him could he play it for her as they hadn't done it at the gig on Friday.  He said deadpan that it was a hard one, they've only done it live once, I said no probs it was worth asking.  They warmed up with an awesome version of Green Day's Good Riddance...which Aileen didn't record  Sad then went into their set.  Between songs they kept teasing Rebecca.  They did play Why and then the last song they played was In Pieces which Randy Y told Rebecca was for her.  She actually filled up, thought she was going to lose it...especially when Randy S changed the lyrics a couple of times to include her name in the song.  She was totally overwhelmed by the way they treated her, I've never seen her so quiet, lol.  When Mars Patrol came on, Randy S scared the crap out of her by bumping his hip off her hip to the song Shake It Up.  She had an absolutely fantastic time with them.

 Bite me  Wasn't me  innocent

Funny thing is I was a bit surprised when Becca said In Pieces is her favourite song as when I hit that track on the cd I tend to play it over and over until she screams enough at me, lol.

You know me anyway, couldn't give a shit what anyone thinks of my taste in music  Wink  It was a shame for the guys though, as they announced to everyone they actually are a rock group from Canada, not a ballad band and blamed us lot for the ballads as they were our requests.

The guys were lovely though.  I have a cracker of a pic of me with Randy S but if I post it you will all call me a groupie  laugh  It was a total wind up and I was dared by the man himself...I've always said don't dare me to do anything or I get myself into trouble...tis true.  Couldn't back down from the challenge or I'd have looked a right wuss, lol.  Was great too as Kells and Aileen couldn't take pics for laughing so we were stood that way for a couple of mins.  They are loving their time over here so hopefully they will make it back in the fall with the full band in tow to play an electric set.

I'd be slagged fae here to hell and back laugh   He did give me his lucky red bandana* at the end of the night though and he's still emailing me so I'm not in too much trouble  biggrin

*For some reason he always has a red bandana hanging out his back jeans pocket.  He was lost without it, says the black one just isn't the same lol.  I took him a replacement red one when we went up on Sunday (which turned out to be the same design as his) so he was well chuffed...until he tied it round his neck and I told him he looked gay, lol.  Of course he is a vain git and had to see for himself...when he saw the pic, he was like, right, back to the drawing board, lol.

But definitely not a gay one   smile

I was gonna congratulate you on resisting saying it but I see you went back and amended your post.  B*****d!!!   Bite me  At least you were kinder than Tut  Wink  When he saw it the other day there he sent me an email saying GROUPIE!!!  in 2 inch high letters, lol.

It was a great 2 days, both bands were really genuine people, no airs and graces.  Think it was the language barrier with the Canadians that really won me over, they were unconcious comedians.  They had visited Giants Causeway in Ireland when they toured there and they never have a camcorder or camera out of their hands.  Randy Y said to Randy S to "do a Slash on the Giants Causeway".  Randy S jumps on a rock, goofing around playing air guitar ala Slash  from G 'n' R and shouting he is doing a Slash on the GC...until they found out what slash meant over here  biggrin
