I love horror movies, with a preference to old ones.

Here's my top 5

1. JAWS I (also features as my favourite movie of all time, smile you sonnova bitch )
2. Night of the Demon (curse of the demon in the US,) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050766/
3. Salems Lot (the original version, scratch scratch, let me in)
4. The Omen I (Yeah i'm an Atheist but i'm still scared smile
5. Dawn of the dead (2004) (the first 15 mins was so gripping, up there with saving pvt Ryan)

what are your faves?

Horrors scare the crap out of me and I tend to avoid them unless there is someone here to watch with me.  What can I say, I'm a coward, lol.  Got to say I do love Jaws though, still jump at the same bit no matter how many times I've seen it  blush

John Carpenter's Vampires, I always manage to catch it when it's on tv.

Alien
I've watched all sorts of horror movies, but Alien is still up there.  Cool

(I avoid watching it these days on the off chance it doesn't freak me out as much as it did twenty odd years ago.

In saying that The Keep is something else.

Tangerine Dream doing the soundtrack for an early Michael Mann movie with a really solid cast and a storyline with Nazis in a mad castle that would later become a contender for the inspiration behind stuff like Return to Castle Wolfenstein?
It can't get much better than that.  Cool

This vid is spoiler central, so you might want to cease and desist after the first three minutes if you haven't seen it and plan to. Wink
Tangerine Dream - THE KEEP (video-collage)

..One of my favourite movies of all time.  Cool Cool Cool

How could i have missed out Alien, and more importantly how come i've never seen or even heard of "The keep" until now?

It's definitely on my radar now, looks right up my street.

1) Alien scared the shit out of me as soon as the creep was really big!  Was about 8 at my grandparents and snuck on the TV at night when they were fast asleep ... Bad idea ....
2) The Fly as I was barely ten gave me a unexplainable phobia of the Beach Boys.  My dad was a heavy fan during that period and I have apparently made a link between that film and their music.  Imagine being scared of the Beach Boys happy go go music ...(or perhaps it's just good taste lol)
3) Loved Braindead as a B-movie! Splattergore fun biggrin  The Priest going kung fu versus the zombies in the graveyard ... The broomstick sex scene ... the Baby-battle on the playground ... the Lawnmower ...
4) It ... but the book was scarier!
5) The Cube had a weird captivating atmosphere ...

For the rest I dont really watch horror movies cause they are predictable ...

I've always liked the more comedic horrors...

Dog Soldiers, Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness, Dead Snow, Tremors. I'd put Shaun of the Dead on there but to be honest, it's not really that horrory. But it does have Zombies.

Always notable mention for Alien, because Alien was awesome. Whilst I like the rest of the Alien films to varying degrees (in order, they get shitter the further they go), but Alien was a pinnacle moment.

I do have The Shining and Ringu at home to watch though.

Kind of going off on a tangent a bit here, but I've never seen Sorcerer.
I did find out however that it's a remake of a French film called The Wages of Fear that gets an excellent rating on iMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046268/

It's also 'available' on teh internets. Cool

I don't really watch horror films.

Alien was great & I never considered Jaws to be a horror film.

Jaws is more as a romance with a bad aftertaste?  laugh
