Quick question, is there anyway to change the default security setting when access your user folders from another users account?
For example, i was logged into the girlfriends account, accessed MY folder through c:\users\steven. The message that came up was "do you want to permanently access this folder" i had to access it so i clicked yes and entered my pw. Now i cant undo the access i created.
Any ideas?

Right Click on it>Properties>Security>Edit
You can change the permissions in there. Thing is though, if you were logged into the GF's account and then accessed your folder, then she must have Admin privileges on her account..which means full access anyway.

BTW can anyone easily explain why Windows 7 folders have two different sharing facilities. One on the Sharing Tab under properties (that doesn't seem to do anything) and one when you click the advanced sharing.
It seems to me that to actually share a folder with another user on the same Home Group you have to set both to allow "Everyone" to have access. If you set the Sharing Tab to give access to the Homegroup for the folder you still get the No Permission error. The advanced tab does not allow you to give permission to Homegroup so you end up having to give permission to everyone.
If you only set one of them and not the other then it doesn't work. You have to set both.
It is a very complicated and user unfriendly system.

The simple Share button in Properties works with me.
Sharing files within folders in your own Users folder is locked down tight until you apply the necessary permissions (part of 7's enhanced security), but there's a simple way to do it. In the Users folder there's an account called Public, anything in those folders is available to every user on the computer or on the home network.*
Of course, you can also just share a whole drive, so long as it isn't the Windows one (you could try, but chances are you'd run into Permission Denied almost everywhere).
*If you navigate to the Users/Public folder, right click on it and select Include in Library if you want to create a shortcut to the Public Folders through your Library.
