Those fucking scumbags hacked tampered with Milly Dowlers phone and deleted some messages, giving hope to her family that she may still have been alive.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/jul/04/milly-dowler-phone-hacking-rebekah-brooks

In Charge at the time were Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson..David Cameron's bum chums.
This goes way beyond the pale, I'm fucking raging.  mad

Completely and absolutely disgusting... though, I do find the word "hack" a little strong in all this... it's literally trying the default pass code.

Yeah hack is bollocks, they just used the default pass word or pin as people hadn't changed it.

This makes the fact that Jeremy *unt has agreed to Murdoch buying out Sky even more fucking bent.  He's always said he liked Murdoch and News International yet was given the job of decided.  Seems bent beyond belief.  Someone needs to "hack" their answer messages to find out the truth.

How they did it is completely irrelevant (calling it a hack is consistent with the wider story), deleting some of her voicemail messages to make space for new ones in order for the NOTW to scavenge exclusive quotes is the lowest of the low.
Utter, utter scumbags.

Just saying, all the "hacking" in this is done that way related to the NOTW. It's just called hacking by the wider press, doesn't mean it's right. It's as much hacking as typing administrator <blank> on a badly set up computer... and whilst that is illegal under the Computer Misuse Act (if you aren't allowed the access), you'd be hard pressed to call it hacking. Whereas, the trick as a guest user to elevate to the system account is a hack, you need a bit of expertise to pull it off. The fact it's done by a journo basically says it all :P

Completely agree it's the lowest of the low what they've done.

What you need is a time machine to go back a few years and set the UK press straight on what does, or does not constitute hacking.

Unfortunately we don't have one yet, so you're stuck with the name they've given to the story.
Even if you assemble every pedant in the land and form a pressure group, it is, and always will be, the Phone 'Hacking' Scandal.

Scumsuckers.

E-mail today from 38degrees.org it may do no good but I've signed.

Quote
How much lower can Rupert Murdoch's media empire sink? Today, one of his papers stands accused of hacking the phone of murdered teenager Milly Dowler, causing her family even more pain, and risking a police inquiry. [1]

Rupert Murdoch's empire is now under investigation by the police. [2] But at the same time, he’s getting ready to take even more control of our media. This week, Murdoch’s expecting to get the green light from David Cameron’s government for his takeover of BSkyB. [3]

If we work together, we can make sure this week doesn't end with Murdoch getting awarded even more power. Let's stand together for higher media standards and against Murdoch's latest power grab.

Help break Murdoch's grip, sign the petition now:
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/murdoch-deal-petition

The final government inquiry into Murdoch's power grab ends this Friday at midday. [4] We'll deliver a copy of the petition to the inquiry - demanding that the phone hacking allegations are taken into account and the deal is halted.

The government wants to approve Murdoch’s BSkyB takeover. They say that Murdoch promises to respect media independence, so there's nothing to fear from giving him even more control. They want us to trust Rupert Murdoch! [5] But how can we trust Murdoch when his paper stands accused of hacking into the phone of a murdered teenager?

We’ve got until noon on Friday to prove to the government that the public wants the brakes put on Murdoch’s power grab. Let's get over 100,000 signatures by then – add your name now:
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/murdoch-deal-petition

Yesterday, Murdoch's empire thought this deal was in the bag. Our people-powered campaign had helped delay things - but they had just one hurdle left. The minister in charge, Jeremy Hunt, was clearly on Murdoch’s side. Murdoch's backing for the Conservatives at the election and his executives’ cosy dinners with David Cameron all seemed to be paying off.

But now, we have a real chance to stop this power grab. [6] Across the UK, people are shocked at how one of Rupert Murdoch’s papers is accused of heartlessly abusing a family facing one of the worst situations any of us can imagine. Let’s work together to make sure this is a turning point in the battle for higher media standards in Britain.

Please sign the petition now:
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/murdoch-deal-petition

Thanks for being involved,

David, Hannah, Johnny, Becky, Cian, Marie and the 38 Degrees team

Disgusting in the extreme Sad.  Going by The Slapper's statement earlier today she knew nothing about it in regards to Milly's phone being hacked.  Aye right!  Jessica Wells and Holly Chapman's parents were also apparently contacted by detectives investigating the case around the same time as Milly Dowler's were contacted.

At least some of the companies who advertise in the NOTW etc are having a rethink.  Ford have already walked with a few other big names considering whether to pull their ads.

Signed the petition early this afternoon Barrie when I got the email.  It probably won't make a blind bit of difference but is worth a go.

It won't make a difference you're right.

The Conservatives owe Murdoch big time and no way will they risk themselves being slagged off in The Sun so soon after election. Regardless of how unsavoury this whole affair is.

It's corruption beyond the realms of any honourable man or woman and IMHO it will show the toffee nosed for what they are, money and power brokers that care about bugger all else.
They were evil in the 80's/90's they are just as evil now.

This is one can of worms that they can't keep a lid on (despite years of trying and lying).

I think there's going to have to be a Judicial Inquiry, given we already know they've been paying off the Police and yet more evidence of this has come to light.
(And if the Police investigation back in 2006 is proved to have been compromised for the sake of payment, we should be throwing the book at those officers as well.)

Surprises me not in the least.  Rebekah Brooks must be well in with the Murdoch clan to have held onto her job this long considering all the revelations.
