I think it's pretty much a stick that some continued to receive money in order to keep their lips sealed.
Look at what happened as soon as they stopped paying the legal fee's of those other two....all manner of 'new' information suddenly comes to light.

So turns out Andy Coulson was being paid lots of money while being employed by the Conservatives.  And to think, they were going to rush his bid for BSkyB through.

You're surprised? 
The fact that the whole edifice may be rotten to the core has been the story for six years. 

Not surprised, just that it's all coming out.

A lawyer, I don't think related to News International has said this isn't uncommon.  I haven't read rest of what he's said, however I would of thought it would be uncommon to carrying on paying off an ex-employee who resigned over a hacking scandal.  And although at the time Andy didn't admit to knowing anything about it etc and just thought it was "the right thing to do".  A company still wouldn't carrying on paying this person off as they'd class it as poor management that they never knew, so why pay them.

Seems all so bent, what with Murdoch so close to getting BSkyB.  And also funny how Cameron and gang have had about 23 meetings with Murdoch about the BBC licence issue, but only had one meeting with BBC bosses (can also be found in Private Eye).

The only thing I can think of at the moment that might turn out to be as bent as this is what might come out if Megrahi gets the chance to talk about the truth behind his conviction, without the spectre of Gaddafi's wrath hanging over him or his family.
..I still think that trail leads back to the USS Vincennes.

One of their journalists has also just been called to count for his payments to police  persons.  No link * .

Time the wider point was also called to account IMO.....corrupt police personnel who are equally corrupt being charged.
they seem to e taking a back seat....in the limelight at least.

I think the IPCC are keeping a tight lid on their current investigation.
Given the links to the press that have been revealed during their last one, it's understandable.
