Last week my power unit decided to blow up all on it's own Sad so I'm looking at this for a replacement.

http://www.maplin.co.uk/850w-icute-modular-atx-quad-vga-power-supply-221201

My last one was a 800w so I thinking an 850w unit should be OK. Any thing I need to check??

I could only find one review in favour of the Icute psus and a couple of bad ones but that could be from the PC snobs that are about. I have never heard of or used an I-cute one but to be on the safe side I would go with brands I have used before, you probably dont need  the 850W supply either but go here http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine and that will give you an idea of what size you need.

All above should do the job

Nowt to do with me.

I wouldn't have recommended one from Maplins unless you were in dire straits.
If I did though, then recommending something as OTT as an 800W unit might have been in an effort to make sure it didn't blow up after a week.  tongue2

I'm still running my i5-750 system (OC'd to 3.2GHz) with it's 8GB of RAM, three HDD's, one optical and 6870 GFx card on a decent 450W PSU.
(That I've had for about 5 years now)  Wink

Mine isn't being used anymore. I meant to use out on my daughters when I threw the new gpu in mine, buy I ended up buying her a new Antec psu for hers. I didn't want any issues since I had stressed mine with an OC'd quad and gpu.

It's proven to be a pretty good buy.
I needed some extra plugs for the last mobo and it only cost a few quid to add them with it being modular.
