For the first time ever I've bought a smart phone.


An HTC Wildfire. I know it's a slower processor and screen/res to it's bigger brother the Desire and others but it's ideal for me.
I've never really owned a smart phone apart from the HTC PDA type one I had when I worked in IT but they were to slow and cumbersome to be really of pleasurable use then.

Anyhoo, my old mobile ( cell phone Therm, we call them mobiles) died when in Majorca. I think the  heat gave it sunstroke and the battery decided to corroded and leak all over the innards. It powers on and off straight awa so I've lost all my contacts, all five of them. So I need a new phone.
I was spending about a ten-spot a month on top ups and in all honesty most of that expenditure was sending silly text messages to Wooster when watching the same crap on TV. Daft wee boy material too 
So for the handsome price of 15 quid per month I got an HTC Wildfire handset, 250 minutes call time per month, 5000 txt per month and 500mb data usage per month. Not a bad deal if you ask me as it came just at the right moment when I needed a new phone.

If you want that phone to feel twice as fast, root and rom it. Once you rom it, you'll never go back. It removes all the bloatware isp crap from your phone and adds fast tweaks. I'm using Liberty for the Droid X. http://www.droid-life.com/2011/02/03/liberty-rom-1-5-released-for-the-droid-x/
Cyanogen was my first and the fastest, I loved it. That is until I overclocked on Liberty. Trust me, the phone comes out of sleep and goes back into sleep so fast, my battery life is no shorter.

I am planning to root it Therm.
Few sites I've checked out have instructions. It allows the newer Android to run on it as opposed to the one that is standard on it which also speeds it up and was intending to OC it too

the standard sms txt routine is a faff around if I ever seen one.

My first ever mobile I owned about 14 years ago was easier !

Don't think I will be able to do it.


I'm on 2.2.1 which is locked at S-ON meaning unrevoked won't work until S-OFF and feck knows how to get it into S-OFF.

there's a hack that will switch the pone to s-off, i did it with mine.

post up on xda developers someone on there will be able to elp you out on there..

come to think of it, i didn't need to switch the s-off on mine to root it. that was just something i did after so tat i could completel6y open te phone
