Never knew what Swan Lake was about.

Never cared, I always ignorantly wrote it off as shite ballet and for a pretentious class I care  not to associate myself with.

That was until I was in a class that was being taught listening skills via : Swan Lake coupled with Tchaikovsky's  classical Swan Lake music.

Now I have an idea of the story, it makes sense.

Brilliant.

Real aad yet, mystical romance at the same time.

A crown of stars....man it paints a picture for me.

I may even consider watching Black Swan now that I have an idea what it could be about.

 Cool

I went to my first ballet thinking if I don't like the dancing I'll just listen to some first class musicians.

I started watching & suddenly found that I wanted to laugh, it wasn't until the rest of the audience laughed that I realized that it was a comedy & supposed to be funny. It was based on Die fledermaus & called something like "Rosamund".

Ballet is excellent entertainment (but expensive) & I've never noticed any elitism from audience or cast.

If you ever get the chance to take the youngsters to see The nutcracker at christmas go, it's the best pantomime ever (IMO). I've seen it several times & each production has been different but always magical.
